In order to use the C330 in foreign countries, you need to purchase the maps for those countries and insert the SD card into your unit. You will then have to select the proper maps to use on the unit. These maps are available for purchase at www.garmin.com.
As far as getting around closed roads, your unit will automatically recalculate your route if you are unable to take the suggested route. You can purchase updated maps, but I do not believe this will help you will roads closed for repair.
After you update the software, hit the reset button again.
If this doesn't solve your problem, there is an internal hardware failure that can only be repaired at Garmin. You can buy a factory rebuilt model for about the same price as it would cost to repair yours.
It is unclear what you are trying to load from the Garmin site to your unit. If you are trying to update the software in your unit, it must be the EXACT model otherwise it will not work, and could render your unit useless.
If you are trying to update your maps on your unit, you will need to contact Garmin to purchase an update code.
