Mold related illness looking for a mold unfriendly a/c

I'm looking for a split system because I can control better what goes over the evaporator coils, my concern is how easy is the ams09 evaporator coil to clean? This is a very important factor for me. Of course I would be using hepa filtration inside to mitigate mold growth on the evaporator coils but still need easy access to them. Can I get any pdf files or more pictures of the unit somewhere?

Be sure to leave room between filter and coil for installation of a uv light. hepa filtration may not be as effective as a micron filter. some hepa filters are glorified pleated filters. i use april air filter cases with replaceable cartridge inserts for filtration down to 3 microns. filters are 42.50 a piece to replace cartridges, no moving parts and the coil will be immaculate 10 years from now even if you empty the vac in the return every week . they are that good. the cartridge lasts a year under normal use. i have never in 15 years had a mold and or mildew problem on a unit with an april air filter, the uv light is a great accessory but probably not needed in 90 percent of the applications unless you are going for doctors office where proceedures will be performed, etc. good luck

I am allergic to molds and odors......once I smell mold other smells seem to be intensified.....and I start the allergic reaction all over but worse. Is this normal.

If you have a mold allergy, your immune system overreacts when you breathe in mold spores. A mold allergy can cause coughing, itchy eyes and other symptoms that make you miserable. In some people, a mold allergy is linked to asthma and exposure causes restricted breathing and other airway symptoms.
If you have a mold allergy, the best defense is to reduce your exposure to the types of mold that cause your reaction. Medications can help keep mold allergy reactions under control.

the most important is to go to the Doctor to be given proper consultations regarding your allergies.

Major mold around the rubber "drum"...tried everything to remove it but nothing has worked. How easy would it be to replace it? Help please!!!

You would need to pull it out of the track that is around the door panel itself and replace it with the new gasket. You may have up to 4 screws or clamps to help keep something like this in place. Make sure to keep the door cracked to help let water evaporate and not grow mold. Also, as in most Owner's Manuals, you are to clean it with bleach or vinegar to help prevent mold. Once mold grows, you can kill the bacteria from spreading, but mold stains and will always look like it is dirty.

I have a dometic unit and i smell wath i beleve is mold. i open it up and i see mold? around the blower. how this mold form in the blades? may i get sick breathing this stuff? tank you very much.

Mold can make you very ill depending on which type of mold it is. Mold forms in dark, wet environments and can be hard to get rid of. Your a/c unit needs taken apart and each piece that has mold will need to be cleaned thoroughly and carefully before re-installation.

Where is the drain pan on my central a/c/? It drains inside my air vents.

most central a/c units have a drain that either goes into the house drain system or they have a pump with a float activated switch to pump water out once full. to identify you must find your air handler ( the unit that blows air into the house) remove the lower panel and look for one of the foremantioned drain systems. could be a simple mold problem, mold tends to build in the drain tubes because the flow of water is relatively low.

Indoor blower unit getting loaded with mold...Y. and how do i stop it.

Mold spores are probably coming from surrounding surfaces... The simple fix is BLEACH...but washing the unit(with the power off) will not fix the problem if you dont kill the mold spores on surrounding surfaces... [simple: the blower circulates AIR,,, MOLD SPORES TRAVEL THROUGH THE UNIT AND LAND ALL OVER IT...] find the source, kill the source... and maybe go see the Doctor, the mold may be in your lungs too...

My airconditioner smells when its running like old onions sitting too long in the cubboard (a little moldy). What can I do to make it smell better?

Clean the filter and brush the evaporator, then, spray some Lysol mold mildew control spray on the evaporator. Not too much. A light coat should work ok.

Model 95 Icemaker no ice

The cycle starts when you turn the icemaker on. It starts the dump cycle when the compressor turns off. The mold heater turns on and the cycle motor stalls until the ice cubes release and lets the moror complete its cycle. Then the compressor starts to repeat the cycle. If the mold heater is bad (it should read about 80-85 ohms) it will not dump all the ice and the mold will overflow on the next fill part of the cycle. If the over temperature switch is bad (checks open) It will not let the mold heaters work. The over temperature switch should NEVER open. If it IS open the mold heaters will not heat. MDB
