Just purchased model FGFL67HSB gas range, however; i cooked by LP gas. When i turned on burners, they are extremely high and uneven. When i adjust control to 3 or even 2 the flames rises above my pots and literly i have black soot (it looks like) all over my pots and the burners. What have i done wrong and what to i need to do to correct this. I'm scared to use my new range now... PLEASE HELP !!
Stove will not adjust low than about 3.5
Okay, DO NOT USE THIS STOVE ON LP GAS.
It's not intended to be used with LP gas, because LP gas requires a smaller orifice than natural gas. Call your propane supplier IMMEDIATELY...DO NOT USE THIS STOVE UNTIL IT IS CONVERTED TO LP GAS (if it's even possible)...this is extremely dangerous and you could hurt yourself if you continue to use LP gas on a stove that was designed to run on natural gas.
It wouldn't be a bad idea, and get the propane version. Your local Propane provider may be able to help you pick out one. Definitely do not use a natural gas stove on a propane supply. (I work for a MFA Oil on the Propane side of things, just as an FYI...
..but no matter who you use, definitely consult them.

thank you. guess i need to return the stove.. huh?
Are the stoves basically the same with the exception of the orifices? I am up against the same situation where I've purchased a GE Spectra stove that was used on Natural Gas but I'm looking into a conversion kit for using LP. Are there any other potential issues that I should be aware of, i.e., safety, operational, etc., before converting the stove/oven?
Prior to using central gas i used propane (or natural gas-i dont' know which) I've recntly moved and i've had to switch back to using a tank again . the flames are way too high and they cause soot on the bottom of my pans. what is the problem and how do i fix it? I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
