Cannot use microphone.

Whenever i try to talk with the microphone, it only plays static so others can't hear me what-so-ever.

It was working earlier on today, just fine! but now its not working at all.
I can still use the headset to listen via the headphones, but the microphone doesn't work.

(If you tap the microphone though, you can tell that you're tapping it as there is a difference in static noise.)

Thank you very much!

Hi I have had a similar problem with a Mic, too things to try , first try it on a different appliance to rule out the appliance you are using, if it still doesn't work then it's most likely a short somewhere, tough to repair but worth a shot if you have the patience.

Hope this helps.

People can hear background noises on my PC but not my voice

Hi,

Perform some simple steps as follows.

1. Double click on the volume control icon in the system tray, that is on the right hand bottom side of the screen. Check if the microphone is muted.

2. Right click on the same icon, and select "adjust audio properties." You will now get a window that says Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. Click on the tab named voice on top of that window, and check what is selected as the voice recording device. Check in the drop down menu to change the device and use the "test hardware" option to test the mic.

3. Make sure your microphone is working fine. Other people are not hearing your music from your microphone, but from your system itself.

Sound

Normal 0 The problem is that your microphone is picking up feedback from your speakers when you talk because the speaker volume turned up. Try lowering the volume. If this doesn't work I suggest you use a set of headphones and it will eliminate this problem completely.
Hope this helps. Bud

Recorded Video Plays back static

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

Headset

There may be a few things that are wrong:

1. Your headset may be faulty.
2. You may need to configure your router.

First, make your IP address static.
If you do not know how to do this, then there is a guide here.

After that, you will need to go into your Router's Control Panel.
You can do this one of two ways:

1. Go to Start --> Run. Type in "cmd".
Once the command box opens, type in: "ipconfig /all"
Find the "Default Gateway" and paste it into your browser.
You will be prompted for a username and password, which you would have set when you installed the router.

2. Go to http://whatismyip.org and find out what your external IP address is. Copy the address, and paste it into your browser.

Once you have logged into your Router's control panel, look for "Port Forwarding" or "DMZ".
When you get onto the page, add a new record.
Use the static IP address you used earlier, and set the record to "DMZ".

[[DMZ open ALL ports on that IP address, allowing incomming and outgoing traffic to pass in and out of the computer]]

This should allow the headset to work, however if it doesn't, it may be faulty.
