SOURCE: On a Cannon Powershot IXUS 86015 How do i change the language back to english?

Hey thaze,
According to the manufacturer you need to press the playback button, which looks like a triangle pointing to the right. Next you need to hold down the func. /set button, and press the menu button. Next you need to use the up/down arrows, or the right/left arrows to choose the desired language and then press the func. /set button. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

If your camera is still under warranty, the best thing you can dois to take it to the nearest official repair shop and Canon Digital Cameras shouldfix it for free.

If your camera is out of warranty, or if Canon refuses to repairit for free (happens sometimes if for example they suspect the camera has not been treated properly) you can try some ofthe methods listed here to repair it yourself. These simple methodshave helped a lot of people fix their cameras.

Before trying any of the suggestions, make sure your Canon Digital Cameras has fresh batteries and it is in recording mode.

1) Remove the batteries from the camera, wait for a couple of minutes, then put them back in and turn the camera on.

2) Try compressed air. With a fine tip blow off gun and drycompressed air (20 lbs) set the tip between the lens turret and thecamera body and turn on the air while moving the tip around the lens.It should remove all dust and sand. Turn the camera on and it shouldfunction fine.

3) Another method is to tap the padded USB cover part on a hard surface, for example, a desk. It sounds so simple, but veryoften in works.

4) Try forcing the camera lens:

Turn off the camera. Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended.

Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a "click" as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on.

If the lens doesn't extend at all or it extends, and then retracts again, do the following. Turn the camera off. Take the camera in one hand and with the other gently take one part of the lens and gently move it round in a circular movement. Do so with both sections of the lens. You will hear a "click" as it pops back in place. Power the camera on.

Another version of this fix would be to pull and twist on the largest ring of the lens while turning the camera on. Listen for a "click". If at first the focus seems to be off, turn the camera on and off and take lots of pictures, close ups and distance. Focus should slowly start improving.

5) If that doesn't work, there is an online guide for dismantling Canon Digital Cameras and fixing the E18 error. (NOTE: Try this only if your camera is no longer under warranty!)It is a great guide with pictures and it can be found here.

There are 2 other guides, one Bulgarian and one Estonian with the take apart procedure for Canon cameras. They are not in english but have a lot of pictures which help with the process.

- Estonian guide

SOURCE: Canon IXUS 100is battery pack problem.

Your battery pack is made up of cells.
If one of the cells is bad or low, then the camera will work - but the battery level sensor KNOWS that the voltage level is low.
It will work for some time... then finally fail. A nut (like me) would take the pack apart and zap the bad cell by discharging a large capacitor across the weak cell. I have added a year or more to a battery pack by doing that.

How can I re-set a Sharp model 1C 24" LCD TV back to the original factory settings? My son set 5 seconds on the sleep timer so the TV doesn't stay on long enough to re-set with the remote

There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

What buttons should I press to restart camera Canon Ixus?

Hi andresen_3,

In order to reset the camera settings to its default values you need to do the following:

1. Press the MENU button
2. Use the left or right arrow keys to select the Settings menu (its icon looks like a wrench and hammer)
3. Use the up or down arrow keys to scroll to the choice that says "Reset ALL..."
4. Press the "Func./Set" button to confirm your choice.
This will reset the camera to its factory default settings

Hope it helps.

I have been VERY happy with my Canon Power Shot Sd 1200 IS, but my photos all of a sudden are now very grainy and really disappointing, and not worth keeping at all. The camera is only 12 months...

Since you did reset the camera to the factory defaults I have only one suggestion - it is possible someone touched the lens with oily fingers.

In case if the reset to factory defaults did not work completely look at the following settings: resolution (set it as big as you can), compression, ISO (set it to lower value like 100). Also see if you are using any postprocessing effects.

My flash does not work it is turned but does not flash..i tried resetting to factory setting but still wont work. was working fine yesterday

Chek if you are using Auto mode, or you changed it by mistake to Program or any other mode. If this is not your case, the software or some parts might be damaged, and you have to take the camera to a Canon dealer for repairs.

Try manually setting the ISO speed to 100. Sometimes on Auto ISO the camera chooses a high speed that reduces colors. Or you can try adjusting the exposure with the EV button - set to a lower setting like -1 or -1 1/2.
