This memory loss issue sounds like a problem with the main board inside the TV. The channel memory should not erase after a power cycle.

You are probably loosing other custom programming like your Display and Audio settings. That is if you had modified something in these menus.

You may want to check to see if this is also happening by making a change in like the Display menu, and then turn the unit off and back on.

The TV has a one year warranty on parts and labor.

SOURCE: When I tune to a digital channel my TV will

The problem you have mentioned is a clear case of logic control circuitry malfunction. These circuits are part of the main A/V board and replacing it should resolve the problem. The board costs about 100$ and is not that hard to replace so let me know if you wish to do it yourself.

SOURCE: LG 42LK450 flat screen.I tried auto tuning but

If your trying to receive over the air make sure the TV is not set to a Cable mode, if your on Cable your new TV is most likely a ATSC tuner (digital) and the cable company can map channels any way they want. If your old TV had the older style cable tuner, the lineup will be different.
HDTV has level thresholds, if the signal is weak you wont see anything, but the old TV would.
Without knowing much about where or what sort of TV your using, these are my best ideas.

Even when I receive HDTV chanels, the display reflects only 480.

No adjustments can be made on the TV since the channels are being pick up with the resolution they are being broadcasted. Once the TV tunes to a digital channel(s), it will show the resolution to be either 480i, 720p or 1080i

BEKO TRW325 TV. Frozen on chanel 1.

I turned the TV off. I held in all of the (4) buttons on the front of the TV and turned the TV back on again....this seemed to free up the remote control access and I was able to work the TV normally. The four buttons were the channel and the volume controls.
