SOURCE: 1990 Buick Century 3.3L Check Engine Light comes on, stalls.

Need to check for fault codes. Possibly a faulty sensor causing the fuel system to run rich or lean.

SOURCE: Engine light is blinking and it runs very rough/low power in gear.

Check the coil pack. Same symptoms on mine. It went at 74,000.
You can get the resistance specs from a shop manual. I have been told the plastic engine cover traps heat and makes short life of the coil pack. I removed the top engin cover, cosmetic only after replacing mine. You will probably need spark plugs also they are probably fowled by now. If you have not changed spark plug wires in awhile in would not hurt.

Engines valves?

your engine would be running rough like a fouled spark plug, a super hot exaust system is caused by a vacuum leak witch will also make the engine run rough at idle, a easy way to locate the vacuum leak is the spray parts of the intake system with WD40, intake manifold, vacuum hoses,

I have 1998 ford expedtion runs rough pipes get red hot. took pipes loose. no power still. put new plugs no luck please help!

It takes a lot of heat to make the exhaust pipes get hot enough to glow red. It is a dangerous condition and can lead to a vehicle fire. A clogged catalytic converter or manifold could cause this, but ultimately the heat from the exhaust fumes is not exiting the system properly. Even a clogged tail pipe could cause this. A vandal might have stuck something in the end of the tail pipe.
It is running rough because it cannot push the exhaust out and therefore cannot take in enough air.
Regardless of the cause, have this inspected and the blockage/clog removed repaired and do not continue to drive the vehicle with this condition.

My 2002 a-6 3.0 suddenly started running rough-engine light is on and blinks at 45mph. runs doggedly

Check oil and coolant levels (at the radiator cap) first. Run fault codes to find which sensor triggered the engine light . The light is to tell you that the engine is in danger of failure so do not dismiss the light as not important.. Hot smells mean that the engine is very hot and you may not have any coolant in the system to activate the temp light or gauge.

2002 olds bravada exauste manifold glowing red hot

The exhaust system could be blocked between the engine and the tail pipe. The fuel mixture could be too rich or too lean.
Is the check engine light on ?
Can you rev the engine up in park ?

2000 gran prix 3.1 runs fine while driving, but when stopped at a light starts to idle rough

Take the EGR Valve off and clean all the carbon out of it using something to scrape with and use a non-chlorinated brake cleaner.Whenever an EGR Valve gets stuck in the open position it allows exhast gasses into the intake manifold causing the engine to idle really rough, but after you get up to say 45-55 its smooths out thats when the valve should be open.

95 Oldsmobile aurora rough idle and hesitates, back fires

This has me thinking because its an older car and iam thinking of our europeon models. But if this is a californian model ?? then i would be totally wrong. But to start with i would check the any pipes connected with the inlet manifold, for air leaks ,like the brake servo feed pipe and any small ones that work the fuel vapour thingy or the gearbox. Then if that doesnt work then get a local garage to have a look because a mechanic would have come across this before and would have a good idea what to change without a meter reading .my one suspect is the air flow meter

Engine will only do 700 rpms

As long as you have fuel pressure and good fire on the ignition system. When you try and give it the gass to rev it up do you hear a wooshing sound from the exaust at all, kind of like it is plugged up. If so replace the catylitic converter, it is plugged up. The exaust manifold will get red hot if you run it for too long also. If it is not plugged up, then I would spend the money and pull the valve cover and see if you have a rounded cam lobe on one of the intake or exaust valves. This keeps the gases from getting out of the motor and holds it back. Sometimes it will also backfire thru the carburator when trying to accelerate the motor. Good luck, RAC
