Need more info ...but these 99v is notorious for cracking traces on the board. The frequency counter roams all over when this happens . It wont let it key up or receive. It needs a good tech to find it.

What does the message 'Terrestrial antenna is short-circuited' mean?

It means that 'Antenna Power' in the Installation menu is switched on when it should be off. This is only required when sending power to a mast-head amplifier.

, the message you are getting is "amp guard". This is the mesage it will display when a short in a speaker wire or speaker with low impedence is hooked to the internal amp and sends it into protect mode, shutting down the amplifier section while the rest of the unit continues to work.

When the unit is turned on the unit makes a clicking sound, nothing else. No lights, no sounds, just clicking from the right side of the unit. Sending the unit off to Sony for repair will cost $225 which...

Your unit is going into the protect mode. If this still happen after you unplug "all" the speakers, your output amp/trans are shorted/grounded... send it to Sony their price to repair is with in reason. Don't want to spend that, get a new unit. "And" check your speakers that they are the right ohms speaker and not shorted out and/or have bad wires feeding them.

Unit only stays on for 4 seconds then turns itself off.

This is a short or unstable ohm load. Remove all speaker wire connections to see if the amp will stay on.
If the problem goes away when disconnecting the speaker wires try this:
1) Check volume level on zone one and zone 2 if connected. If it is too high the amp will go into protect mode and shut off exactly as you described.
2) Make sure no wires are touching any other wire or the metal surface of the amp. This will cause a short and send the amp into protect mode.

Blown Stereo Receiver

If the output transistors are shorted they cause burns on the resistors and even even blow the AC fuse and your receiver will not come ON. I used to enjoy fixing, these AMPs this was many years ago. Any how, repairing this unit will be more than a $100.00 my advice to you is BUY a NEW 1.

Good luck

Sony STR-D565 fuse continues to blow

You could have a shorted winding in the power transformer. The diodes in the power supply can be shorted. Filter capacitors can short and send power to ground which will blow the fuse.

MPA-101 Amplifier powers on, receives source signal, the fuse is not blown inside, but no sound comes out of the amplifier. The amp is pretty new, doesn't even have dust inside the unit.

Hello, is this a Radio Shack PA amp or Jamo amp? The unit is probably in "Protect" mode. Is this a PA system or a receiver...receivers have a protection circuit that will not let the speaker relay activate if the amplifier output section is shorted and sending voltage towards the speakers...so they won't fry!!The speaker relay should activate within 3 to 5 seconds if your output section is ok.
