I have a emachines w5233 Intel Pentium D 925 / 3.0 GHz 2.5 GB RAM 300 watt PSU I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. Will this type of card work? What other cards would work with this set up?
AS it GEFORCE 440 requires (pci express) PCI-E 2.0 x 16 and your motherboard has 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, so you just need to check your motherboards manual if motherboards pci express is x16 2.0 if so, you can go for a upgrade and run. as I found itcan run nvidia geforce 8 or 9 on fixya.
Testimonial: "Thanks for your help. I did some reading up on it and also read in the manual that it does support it so it should work but will lack a bit of performance. "

@software_ss,
The motherboard doesn't need to have PCI Express 2.0 technology, in order to support a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology.
This is because the PCI Express 2.0 technology is Backwards Compatible, with PCI Express 1.0a, and 1.1 technology. Doesn't always 'play nice' with PCI Express 1.0a, but this why PCI Express 1.1 was developed.
So stating a PCI Express 2.0 graphics card, will work on a motherboard with the PCI Express 1.1 technology, is PERFECTLY FINE.
Using a motherboard with the PCI Express 1.1 technology, you will NOT get the full capability of a PCI Express 2.0 graphics card.
This is because PCI Express 1.1, has a PER LANE data rate of 250MegaBytes per Second, (250MB/s), and a TRANSFER RATE of 2.5GigaTransfers per Second,
(2.5GT/s)
PCI Express has a per lane data rate of 500MegaBytes per Second, (500MB/s), and a transfer rate of 5GigaBytes per Second. (5GB/s, or also stated as 5.0GB/s)
So what does that mean in reality? Let's say you are playing an intensive game, and using a 6 foot HDTV as a monitor. You may not see the characters in the game sweat, and maybe, just maybe, there might be frame rate lag.
In otherwords, I DOUBT you will notice. We haven't reached the full capability of PCI Express 1.1 yet, don't let them fool you.

@ joecoolvette, Thanks brother for detailed information. I knew something like that (the graphics card should support but not with full features, not all of these) , but did not know the purpose of his target to go for the update. So, I mentioned about 2.0 to get the full feature if he wants to supported. This information is really helpful for me, because I did not study on data transfer rate of pci express. Thanks again.

SOURCE: Upgrading a processor....
troncho81:
Compatibility: make sure that your motherboard supports the new CPU you have bought. If you are sure it supports it then make sure you have the latest BIOS or any firmware from manufacturer installed.
I am assuming that you have seated the processor properly and it also has a fan properly working over it.
Hope that helped!
SOURCE: upgrade vga & processor for elite P4M800-M7
Hi kapitan, for starters the AGP is faster than a PCI. Yes, you can upgrade to 512MB. There is a direct path to the CPU when using an AGP video card.
Elite Group has 2 P4M800-M7's. One is version 1.0 & 3.1.
Though both boards are very similar they are different when it comes to CPU support.
When you view the main pages for you're Elite Group P4M800-M7. Look to the left for CPU Supported & click it. I'll list both boards along with their link to supported CPU list. You will need to find the version number (on the board) in order to pick the correct CPU supported per version number.
Link 1, Version Number 1.0
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=531&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=7&LanID=9
CPU's supported. V1.0

Link 2, Version 3.1

CPU's supported V3.1

Depending on the version number you can reach CPU of 3.8MHz.
Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask if you need more service.
Good Luck!

Select the driver and click on on of the download links.
The files has to be unziped before installation.
