I recently was re-calibrating the pitch on my turntable but when I put the platter back on I noticed a slight rubbing noise coming from the spindle it is not really affecting the turn table but I don't want to be causing more damage by ignoring the problem does anyone know what this might be and is it cause for concern? I have swapped platters with my other turntable and noise is still there so it's not the platter. I have checked for debris in the moving area of the turntable and have not found anything. I am nearly sure it only started when I put the platter back on any thoughts would be much appreciated.

need to know if it powers up. Does it try to spin, do you hear it trying to spin? More than likely the on/off switch went bad. No, I am not referring to the ON/OFF knob. THere is a switch this engages when turned. The part is S601. You might also want to replace the Start/Stop switch as well. If neither work, then the issue is on the main PC board, and probably IC101, or IC201 with the problem. At this stage, you will have to have a service tech look at your unit.

Check that your voltage settings are set correctly. This is located
underneath your turntable platter. If you remove the slipmat, you will
see 2 holes on the metal platter. Rotate the platter till you see the
voltage switch, located @ the 9'o'clock position. Make sure it's set to
your correct settings (N.America = 115V / Euro = 220V). If not, you
will need a flat head screw driver to switch it. Before you switch it,
make sure your unit is off and unplugged. After you swich it, it should
be ok.
If your still having issues with the speed and the pop-up
light, then there is something seriously wrong, and will need to be
checked by a technician. Sometimes a resistor or IC will go bad,
causing the speed issue, but for the pop-up light - that's usually
faulty wiring generally caused by an incorrect replacement.

There seems to be 2 issues with this unit. Usually when the platter speeds up very quickly, one of the IC (integrated circuits) are faulty and needs to be replaced. However, I've never seen the 33/45 lights come on in addition. So, perhaps the issue started with faulty 33/45 switches, and it then caused a short to one of the IC's.
This will have to be professionally serviced, as it is not an easy fix. There are various circuits on the main board which control the drive, so it's a matter of diagnosing which is the culprit. The 33/45 switches will also need to be tested/replaced.

If you've determined it's not the pots, and you've already performed a thorough cleaning, there are only 2 other issues which would cause this...
1) Faulty Pitch Control Fader - might need to be replaced or cleaned. I would try cleaning first, by opening it up, and if that doesn't work, then replace. Replacing requires soldering. If your not comfortable desoldering/soldering, DO NOT DO THIS. The PCB for the pitch control is discontinued, and if damaged, you will be out of luck in trying to find a new one.
2) Main PCB Drive Circuits - there are 3 IC's which control the pitch/drive of this unit. IC101, IC201, IC301, if any of them are bad, you will have issues. Unfortunately, at this stage, I would suggest contacting a service tech for assistance.
