I have a frigidaire front load wahser and the drum seems to be loose. I first noticed dsomething wrong when the washer started making a load thumping noise like it was off balance at the end of the cycle. When i further examined it I've noticed that the drum is wuite loose almost as if it isn't secure anymore it rocks when I'm putting clothes in it and now thumps everytime it spins
I have the same issue with the broken spider...in the us and they say it is $300 for labor and $360 for parts. My washer is only 3+ years old...what can I do?
I think that I have a broken spider as well. Problem is I cannot get to it. I cannot get the large drum pulley in the back off of the square shaft. Any secrets or just keep pulling? Thanks.
It sounds like your spider is broken it is on the back of the drum that's in side the machine and if that's gone normally your barrings need to be replaced i would normal do the barrings for abaut 65 pound if you do need a spider you are looking abaut 30 pound so if you go down to your local second hand shop they might take the job on it ain't a walk in the park but it can be done i have done so many now im in ipswich if your near me i would do the job but it would seem every one is so far away but try your local second hand shop they should help you.
You might check the shocks that help to stabilize the drum during operaton. Mine started doing what you are talking about, right before it broke. I looked like I was on a mechnaical bull, trying to get it shut down.
Hello Rob - Try rotating the drum manually when it is turned. If you notice that the drum is not balanced and cannot rotate freely, I would suggest contacting a professional so they can move forward accurately. Washer may possibly have a faulty bearing, unbalance drum or pulley issue.

Drum can be pushed creating a finger-width gap between drum and door-seal. Machine doesn't leak. Loud banging during spin. Black marks on clothes.
