My odometer gages and fuel gages are going nuts... and sometimes this causes my rear brake lights not to work. What is causing this? HELP!!

ok it could be quite simple
lets look at wrong size fuse
example 15 and you need a 25 fuse
also if you did any work on vehicle its quite possible that you grounded something out wrong retrace your work and fix accordingly
bad cluster relay is another problem that would cause these problems

Many cars have the same fuse for turn signal and brake lights. Check that fuse for a start.

metal particles on the trigger wheel sensor of the rear differential case, this causes a loose of signal and the light to come on. also a broken tooth on the trigger wheel inside the diff can cause this or a dirty/corroded connection to the sensor from water intrusion.

my 2004 expedition had same problem, if you take apart the shaft that goes thru the glass it will be full of dirt, clean ,lubricate and reinstall, you may have to replace the O-ring on the shaft. a 20 minute job, very easy fix

it might be your master cylinder..."my brakes go out" is not the best description. if the pedal feels very soft, or goes all the way to the floor, then its probably the master cylinder. also, if you just had break work done, then its possible that not all the air go blead out of the system. if the breaks are hard to push, then your break booster may have a leak..

The IPC displays the vehicle mileage and trip mileage as determined by the IPC. The IPC calculates the mileage based on the vehicle speed information from the PCM. The odometer will display 'error' if an internal IPC memory failure is detected.
PRNDL Display
The IPC displays the selected gear position as determined by the PCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the gear position. The PRNDL display shall flash all gear positions if:

The IPC displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the PCM. The PCM converts the data from the vehicle speed sensor to a 4000 pulses per mile signal. The speedometer defaults to 0 mph (0 kph) if a malfunction in the vehicle speed sensor circuit exists.
Tachometer
The IPC displays the engine speed as determined by the PCM. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the engine speed. The tachometer will default to 0 rpm if:

Odometer

The odometer displays 'error' if an internal IPC memory failure is detected. The IPC stores a backup copy of the odometer value incase the IPC stops receiving a valid odometer value from the BCM.

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the ECM/PCM. The IPC receives the vehicle speed information from the BCM via the serial data circuit. The speedometer defaults to 0 kmh (0 mph) when the following occurs:

the fuses have already been checked. I would have to slap the dash board to get them to stop going nuts. the rpm gage finally just stopped working its all the way over to the right. and now the mph gage and fuel gage is acting up. its really ticking me off. I dont know if all this has anything to do with the brake lights to not work sometimes...
