Normally problems starting could be the glow plugs these warm the diesel up making ignition easier also check the wires going to glow plugs if only 1 of these are off it makes starting harder

If its the 3.0 diesel you have a glowplug fault .
May just be the 40 amp one under the hood or one or more glowplugs have burnt out they can be tested in place by using the ohms on a multimeter - O reading duff plug - 0.8 - 1.0 ok.
Also check for 12v on the plugs as the relays can go too .

SOURCE: 2003 Mercedes-benz Sprinter cdi 316 cuts out and doesn't start

Hi, My thoughts exactly ( fuel leak). Is this a deisel or gas engine?
In both cases be very careful with lights or cigarettes.
You can smell it when you get out of car in a garage or stall.
Good luck.

2002 Mercedes Sprinter 313 CSI SWB with air con. Is the replacement fan belt 6PK2275 the correct size? OM6119 engine. Cheers

It is better to buy them by 'year make model' rather than part numbers. It is called a 'Serpentine Belt' because they no long drive the radiator cooling fan :>)

Checking automatic transmission fluid level in mercedes benz sprinter 313 cdi no dipstick supplied.

I don't know why they did this, But other manufacturers are going this way. The consumer can't check the transmission fluid. They have to go to a shop. You can get the stick online. Yours at operating temps are 16 to 17, or 160 to 170, depending on the stack you get. The stick is cable with a metal piece on the end. Push it down until it bottoms out. If you shove it to far/ force it. You have to remove the oil pan to get it out.
