Tag Heuer Kiriam - Watch keeps stopping

My watch seems to be possessed! It tends to stop whenever it likes. Then I have to reset the time and it starts working fine. Also, it seems to be running slow, i.e. If I reset it for 1200 hours and at 1300 hours it run slower by around 5 minutes and shows only 1255 hours instead. I sent it to the authorised dealer and he told me that he had to change the equipment and it would cost me something like US $ 200/-! Is there any other way of addressing this problem? Thanks. SOURCE: Tag Heuer Formula 1 Mens watch

This is not a cheap watch....You should send it to a qualified watchmaker or the manufacturer. This watch has to have a pressure test to insure it's water tight. This may require replacement of some or all of the gaskets in the case.I would never recommend that this is something that you should try to do yourself. You would be amazed at the money I make do to improper replacement of JUST the battery.

SOURCE: Runs Fast

Usually when a watch with a mechanical movement is running fast its is because the adjustment on the hairspring is advanced to far. Since it wasn't running fast to begin with I can assume its because something was knocked loose. It is possible that a tiny drop of oil was on the hairspring and by knocking the watch two coils are stuck together by the oil. (this usually only happens if it has been over oiled by an amature watch repairer) Magnitization is possible but pretty unlikely, unless you play with Big coils of wire that are carrying a LOT of current. Either way, unless you know what you're doing and have the right tools, you are looking at taking it to a Tag repair center. Since a simple tune up can cost about $250, I'd expect to pay $400 to $500 for that one. Welcome to the wonderful world of high end watches.

You have to unscrew the knob first then you will be able to pull it out to change the minutes, hours, date. You may have to use a pair of small pliers to initially turn the knob.

How to synchronize Tag Heuer CAN1011.BA0821?

Unscrew the crown, start the stop watch on the time signal. Stop the second hand at 12 o'clock and reset the time (taking out the back lash on the minute hand) Start the watch as the stop watch second hand hits 12. Screw down the crown. Done.

MY TAG FORMULA 1 WATCH KEEPS STOPPING AT 11.20 BUT THE SECOND HAND KEEPS GOING.

mcdevito75 here, It sounds like the (larger) minute hand is leaning against the (smaller) hour hand, stopping the time telling past 11:20 while the seconds hand keeps going. You"ll have to see a Watch repair person and have them look at your watch. Best Bet, look for a small watch repair shop in your area.

Tag Heuer 2000 Automatic not moving

Hi,

Sounds like your watch is in need of service. All watches need to be maintained and regular service is required. A watch is a tiny machine. So if you think about it a car needs regular maintenance to keep it running and so will any machine.

In a watch the oils dry out after about 3-5 years and they stop lubricating. Just like in a car when the oils stop lubricating the engine will stop, a watch will stop.

The reasons for this are 1) no lubrication means high friction on the moving parts. 2) the dried oils become gummy like glue and hold the gear train in place which keep the gears from moving.

The only answer is to have your watch serviced to get rid of the old lubrication, clean and replace any worn parts, then reassemble and lubricate, and finally adjust the timing.

This is something only a watchmaker should do as the parts in your watch are very small and very fragile. Improper handling can permanently damage the parts.

Hope this helps,

Tag Heuer Tiger Wood Golf WAE1111.FT6004 Watch stops when not worn. Is there a problem

Hi,

An automatic watch needs to be worn, wound daily or placed on a watch winder to keep it going. It is not like a quartz watch that has a battery and can keep going when not worn. A modern automatic watch will run for about 36 - 48 hours on a full wind.

A quartz watch that stops like you describe is in need of a cleaning by a professional watchmaker. When this stopping occurs it is an indication the oils have dried out and the warmth from your body heats them so they are semi liquid again and the watch runs. but when the watch cools again the oils harden and the watch stops.

Hope this helps,

Second hand stops, then ticks four ticks very fast then stops,

It may be that the battery is getting near the end of its life.

I have a TAG HEUER Grand Carrera and the second has stopped

Are you aware that these are automatic watches and need to be moved to keep the watch going, kinetic energy winds up the movement which allows it to keep going, if it is left off your wrist and in a drawer or sat stationary it will stop. Shake it violently (without dropping it) and it will restart.
