Wii "unable to read disc"

My Wii won't let me play any games because it says "unable to read disc." I have tried to clean the disc, (great condition). All of my games say "unable to read disc." When I was playing a game a sudden message popped up and said "unable to read disc." Any ideas of what to do?

If Wii gives Unreadable disc, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. SOURCE: "Unable to read disc" Wii

Your Wii most likely has a problem with the system that reads the disks. If you system is under warranty, you should be able to get it replaced or fixed at no charge, since it is Nintendo's problem.

Wii u games load but get stuck and wont play

HI Denise.

Sometimes a Wii or Wii U is unable to read a disk, or the game will freeze or crash. And sometimes the console won't play any disk at all. Before you throw the disk in the trash or the console out the window, here are a couple of things that might get you back to playing games.13 Jul 2017

Wii could not read disc

There could be several things wrong. Let's start with the most basic - is the disc inserted correctly? The holographic side needs to be on the left when inserting it. Then, make sure there are no scratches or smudges on the bottom of the disc. A common solution is to wipe it with a cloth or even your shirt if you don't have one handy. Look on the holographic side of the disc to make sure there isn't anything left on it. After cleaning thoroughly, try playing the disc again.
If you're still having a problem, try restarting the Wii console. However, there's always a possibility that you have a bad disc or, if you're unable to play any games, a bad console.

Unable to read disc message on Wii

Try a cleaning disc. this may fix this issue. if the issue remains, it will confirm a major problem within the optical assembly. you will need to replace the optical assembly in this case. it has failed.

Contact Nintendo for the optical replacement procedure.

To install wii fit

"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
  • Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc. insertdisccorrect.gif
    • If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
    • If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards

  • If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures

  • If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.

Wont read discs

If it only does this for this one game, you may have a defective game disc, it happens. Often, if you have just recently purchased it, you can return it to the store and tell them that it was defective and get a new one. If not, you can always try cleaning it though I doubt that's the problem.
