Use your remote to access the set-up menu. It will ask you what language you prefer for on-line menus. It might read "idioma". Scroll through the menu options until you find on-screen language,. then select English.

How do i set my Toshiba ct-90157 remote to watch dvd's

Most DVD players are connected to one of the rear audio/video inputs--hook to that input and select it on the TV--then hit play and if connected correctly you will see the movie.

Subtitles

if you are using the component cables (red, green, blue) you won't get subtitles from the dvd player. You have to use your tv for closed caption.

Toshiba SD-4900

Try this, as posted on www.videohelp.com:

Put in DVD.
When you get region whine message press: [menu] [1] [play]
Disc should play, but with region message still up.
Press Marker then Clear. Message is now gone.

You can go to the menu for setup, or keep watching the movie.

Subtitles

Press the setup button. Go to the audio tab and set the subtitles to off.

Sometimes, a unit will get stuck. After doing the step above, put a movie in and wait for the menu. Use the DVD menu to go to audio and select the subtitle option to off.

In both cases, if the option already shows it is off, then turn it on. Exit and go back into the menu and turn it off again.

Region free?Toshiba SD-140E

Put DVD into player - wait for regional code violation screen to appear. Once this happens press the M (Memory) button on your remote control. Then press 1 for Title 1 and press play on the remote. This will over-ride the regional code violation detection menu and you can watch the movie etc by entering the fwd on the remote control and change chapters etc by using the T (Title/Chapter) button on the remote control)
I found this for other Toshiba SD dvd players, yours was not listed but might be worth a go.

My Toshiba SD-3960 sound does not work.

First thing before a landfill is to go into the units menu and see if something in the audio got turned off if not then inspect the connectors on the back for breakage. Good Luck
