The coolant temperature sensor has alot to do with how much fuel the injectors spray into the combustion chambers. If you were having cooling problems the sensor may have been subjected to higher than normal amounts of heat and may need to be changed.

Once open, just get the model number of the dead battery (It will be written on the battery) and get a new one at Radio Shack\batteries plus or somewhere comparable...

You likely encountered interference from another transmitter of some kind. Anything on that frequency that is more powerful than the puny transmitter in the keychain would overpower the signal from your device. You may not experience this issue anywhere else, but if you have to go to the same location again, put the opener right against the car. Good luck,
