Hands-Free Use With Accessories (VOX)
You can transmit hands-free with the use of optional accessories. Once
VOX is turned on, the radio detects your voice and transmits when you
speak.
1. Turn the radio off and plug the VOX accessory into the accessory
port.
2. Turn the radio on. VOX shows on the display.
3. Adjust the volume appropriately by rotating the volume knob . Lower the volume
before placing the accessory on your head or in your ear.
4. To turn off, simply remove accessory.
Note: There is a short delay between the time you start talking and
when the radio transmits. There is a short delay before the
transmission is completed.

You must be using a VOX capable accessory. Generally this is an accessory without an in-line PTT.

We recently purchased the MS350 radios and are trying to use them handfree with the headsets. We plugged in the headsets, turned on the radios, but are unable to communicated back and forth using the VOX...

The three things which come to mind are:
1) Is the headset the VOX headset intended for the radio model? Sometimes the rings on the plug do not match the internal points of contact if it is not the intended headset. Not all headsets are VOX capable.
2) Is the headset plugged in all the way. (You mentioned plugging in and then turning on. This is good. You must always have the radio turned off when plugging or unplugging an audio device.)
3) Try pressing the PTT on the headset cord one time before switching the dip switch to VOX. (Assuming you have a headset with the small box in the line.)

Check your VOX/ iVOX settings. You will need VOX for using an audio device.

Lastly, if you continue to have difficulties, contact Motorola at the 800# provided in the user guide. They should be able to assist you.

Best regards.

1 of my sx700 is not responding

I would suggest taking the radios back to a very basic programming with the interference eliminator set to zero or off, and any special features shut off. This would enclude Qt filter, call tones, iVox/Vox, vibra call, keypad tones, roger beep, enhanced scan, weather, etc. Set both radios to the same frequency and see if they work. If not, try switching the rechargeable battery from one radio to the other. Does the problem move to the other radio? If so, you need a battery. If neither of these helps, you likely need to replace the radio.

I cant turn the vox off of the radio. i plug in the headset and it locks the keys and i cant hear anyone talking to me through the headset.

Only plug the headset in with the radio turned off, and be certain to use a headset designed for the radio. On the SX model radios the VOX or iVOX feature is automatically set to the last sensitivity setting when you plug in an audio device. Here is a link to the user guide, where you can read how to turn iVOX and/or VOX on or off.

Motorola SX700 battery drainage w/tactical mike

It is likely the mic set you are using is not made for the SX700 radio, and is drawing too much power from the radio. Some audio accessories draw more power than others. It is possible your mic set is intended for a professional model radio which would supply more power to the device. You should check with Motorola to see if they have a mic set similar to go with your SX700 radio. I have 2 Motorola SX700 the black one static when i turn it on

Here are a few troubleshooting ideas. 1) Check your battery installation, and clean the contacts both of the radio and battery with a pencil eraser. 2) Install fresh batteries (or swap the rechargeable from your other unit) to see if it is a battery related issue. Static is a sign of a bad or low battery. 3) Turn your CODE on to a setting and continue using the radios as normal with a CODE to block the noise. It is possible due to dropage the radio may be more sensitive to RF in your enviroment than the other radio now. It could have a possible hairline crack in the componet board, or a cracked/damaged speaker.

Check your "code" setting. You may be on the same channel, but different codes. The code is the smaller number. Check your owners manual if you have one for resetting the radio to the factory default settings. This will clear any programming issues.

Sony Ericson 250i Headset not recognised

The wire to headsets can get damaged (usually not visible from the outside, as the wires inside the covering can be very delicate, to keep the size of the wire down) from throwing them in the pocket, purse, etc. Try a set from a friend to make sure the device is still working itself.
