I cleaned the contact on the base with a piece of emery cloth and then used a small wire brush to rescore the suface on the hand unit. This does not help. At times the unit runs from start to finish if you do not mess with it hehe. At other times it does not seem to work at all. I have not scientifically recorded this observation so to speak but it appears that the colder the kitchen is the more it does not work. Moving the power cable does not change this either it appears to be in the switch but I would not put my life on it.

The problem is the base, not the shaver. Most likely, the circuit board inside the base has gotten wet and is damaged. If this is the case, it will need to be replaced. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

It is probably plugged up at the base. Take the cartridge out and turn it upside down> next clean the openings with a cotton swab< it make take a while as it can get gummy> That should fix the problem

I had the same exact problem with the same model. The internal circuit board has gone bad, mine would go on in the middle of the night and I found that if I tapped the unit on the counter I could get it to stop but eventually it would run till the battery went dead.
Luckily Braun gives you a 2 year warranty and mine was still under warranty. I first contacted Braun and they gave me some locations of there authorized service centers. The service center tried replacing the internal circuit board twice and the third time I was sent a brand new unit. I will attach the link to the Braun site for you to contact them or Phone:

Same problem here. It's not the mechanical switch on the handle. Seems like if you rotate the kettle on the base or maybe tilt it the light comes back on and the unit continues heating. Some days it's so bad you have to hold it the whole time. Others it works all the time.
Same problem. Someone help.
