I have a Sony KF-42WE610 that has to have been off for several hours before it will power up. The green ready LED will just keep blinking at a steady rate and sometimes the sound comes on but the lamp doesn't. I replaced the lamp 6 mon. ago and it has no more than 200 or so hours on it. I don't get any red blinking codes nor does the lamp LED come on. After I let it cool down an get it to turn on the picture is bright and clear but when I turn it off the red LED comes on and the screen goes blank to a faint blue, the sound goes off but not the lamp. It used to do this for less than a minute until it cooled down but now it just stays this way. I have to unplug it to turn the lamp off. I have downloded a service manual but I don't get any of the diagnostic codes that would indicate the problem. I just had a new Dish Network 622 HD receiver connected to it and the problem started soon thereafter. Could this be related?

Jeff, did you look at the Sony web site? They had a problem with 9 different TV models that were from 2003 and 2004, KF-42WE610, KF-50WE610, KF-60WE610 and 6 other models.
This is what it states: It haas come to our attention that a limited number of Grand WEGA rear projection TV's may exhibit warping to the lamp access door. In rare cases, some additional components may also become damaged as a result. and so on........
You probably have some components melted on the inside around the lamp. I have a 42 inch and I just replaced the lamp at Christmas and the door was melted shut. This is the second lamp that I have replaced, the door was starting to melt the first time. They never sent me anything about this problem, and as of today I am still trying to work something out with them. The repair shop who has it told me that it can't be repaired. The parts that are melted are not in stock and they don't make them anymore. They are supposed to get back with me and make me some kind of offer.
They will only fix this problem through March 31, 2009.
SOURCE: I have the same problem as robgon52 dated 1/25/09.
Hi,
You need to replace Lamp only as existing lamp is weak in result and causing such symptoms.
Ballast supply is fine and working.
Thanks.

Mine has the same problem, anyone know how to fix this issue ?
My problem is similar. It started out if we turned the set off after watching for a while, then tried to turn it on again a short time later the green light would blink steady but the set would not come on. For a while unplugging the set for a couple of minutes seem to help for a few weeks. But recently that doesn't help either.
Need to file a law suite against sony.
Its known issue.
Extended Warranty company gives you spin around.
my sony also; I changed the lamp and it will not come on. we still get a red light and it tells us to change the lamp and check the door.
