SOURCE: my xbox 360 disc tray wont open how do i fix that

Slap the top of the the box as you press eject. that will get it open.
then wipe a little rubbing alcohol on the black belt
just under the tray . And a little petroleum jell in the
tracks under the tray . Then open and close the tray to
work it in.

I moved my xbox360 while disk spinning in it,the current game doesn't work so good anymore, and now it makes tick-tick noises sometimes when game disks are playing. It reads all disks, theres no problem...

The users manual for the xbox 360 says to never move the console with a game inside. In doing so, you probably knocked the disc off the spindle causing it to grind against the laser and laser assembly. The ticking noise is probably from the motor that moves the laser back and forth across the disc. A spring may have come loose from the motor causing it to click as the screw occasionally slips from the guides. This should not cause a problem, however the plastic inside the motor may wear out causing the "open tray" error after some time in which case a repair will be necessary.

Xbox 360 elite console makes 2 weird noises and says open tray when putting in any discs.how to fix it

I've fixed open tray errors before, and if you are sure the problem is with the 360 and not the disc, it means you need to open the dvd drive and slide the laser over once or twice (at least based on my experience). BE CAREFUL. The mechanism that allows the laser to move around and read the disc is probably jammed.

Disc Grinding, Not Motor or Magnet Thing

I think the only option for you is buy a replacement drive off ebay (you want the same model doesnt matter about the FW version) swap the PCB of the drives over so the new one has your old PCB. The same thing happened to me but when I lubed the spindle the grinding noise went away for a week at a time, so I got fed up of constantly lubing it and bought a new one off ebay and swapped the PCB worked brilliant ever since. Hope this helps.

XBOX 360 grinding and having trouble playing discs

Hi the grinding noise is caused by your laser, the pickup unit needs replacing and your drive needs servicing too. we can repair this including all parts and return postage for £40 to your door.

returning to m$ will cost you a lot more and this is definately NOT covered by any of their warranties (unless its under 12 months in the uk).

we can provide you with a smooth error free drive with a brand new laser for just £40

XBOX 360

Your laser in your xbox has been moved, this is causing scratching once the disc heats up. you need to take it to get adjusted. Or if there is a sticker on something on the disc that may unbalance it, take it off.

DVD Drive malfunction

Hi,

i cant see any real serious damage being caused by inserting 2 discs, however we are talking about the xbox 360 here and the disc drives have had many problems amungst all xbox versions.

Regardless of your warrenty the xbox repair center should fix your xbox free of charge for you providing you dont tell them that your son may of caused the problem. because whether he did or not, they will assume he did.

It could just be a coincidence this happened when the 2 discs were inserted or it could of actually caused the problem.

if you really want to try and fix this yourself, check the dvd drive and make sure that the spindles center and the top disc latching part are correctly alligned.

the top part should be loose and will move freely, the main lower spindle near the laser should not spin so freely and if you spin it you shoul dbe able to feel if it is firmly attached to the motor or not.

Hope This Helps

Bad Cdrom/dvd
The laser going bad is a pretty common issue with the drives, since it's a Hitachi that spindle motor could be all gunked up with dirt as well and cause that issue also.
if ya have a Hitachi, if it's a Samsung it could just be the laser.
