The phone holds its battery well under regular use, however when I connect it to the charger, the phone takes long to charge. I have to turn off the phone and let it charge over night so that the battery charges from 30% to 80%. Again under regular usage, the phone does hold the battery well its just the charging that is ridiculously slow. I have wiped the phone and cleared the cache and still find it to charge slowly. Is this a battery issue or a bad connection?
Maybe you need a new charger.
Try this ..get a qtip and dip in 99% rubbing alcohol. not too wet. just damp. clean contacts on the charger port. use a magnifying glass and light to check if its clean. let it dry for 20 mins. it will also help if you have airplane mode on but its optional. use oem charger and cable or ipad charger works fine with samsung cable. hope it helps

It looks like battery is damaged... When plugged in to charger phone shouldn't power on. Try put it on charger when on and see if charging icon appear. (top right corner-battery status icon should change -insted of battery to charging.) Battery is fully charged after cca 4 hours, 80% after 2 hours.
SOURCE: My camera won't turn on and the lens is stuck out
If the lens is stuck out then you will find it is usually one of a few reasons.
1. Check the batteries. (obvious I know).
2. The camera has been dropped or knocked.
3. The camera has grit or dirt in the lens mechanism.
Providing the batteries are ok then 2 and 3 usually mean a professional repair. The lenses tend not to be something that the average home user can remove and take apart. The cost of repair also might be more than the camera value so you will need to find a good repair shop near you and get a quote.

have been having the same problem. Just pulled the lead out straight and stretched it and now it is charging red light on constantly. May have been a kink in the lead?

it is possibly the battery itself. i have a two batteries for this camera one of them has this problem orange flashing light and doesn't charge and the other works fine. You might need to get a new battery. Good luck

I called 1-800-samsung, and they sent me a new battery. After the problem insisted, they asked me to ship the camera back to them (still under warranty). The concluded that the cable was defective, and they shipped me a new one within 1 week. That was fast!!!
