SOURCE: Sharp R1480 OTR microwave night and work light won't turn on

Check you are getting 115 V with the bulb in circuit (safest way to test this is to solder a couple of bits of wire to one of the bulbs so you can access the terminals with the bulb inline (be careful), and then measure voltage across it.) The load imposed by the bulb may be causing the power supply to go into a protection mode - usually only if bulb is shorting, but may be a problem with the power relay. If there is a problem with the power supply, through the control board relay or otherwise, this will tell you for sure. Otherwise, if there is definitely the right voltage to a good bulb, then it will light. Check that the bulb is definitely making contact well, and make absolutely sure you have the correct bulbs for 115v, not the 220/240v ones. If this gives you no luck then please ask again with details of what you found. Hope this helps :)

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online.

They should be able to tell you what current model is comparable to yours.

SOURCE: Sharp R1480 - door won't close

Very much so.

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off inside.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

We have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics. Or you can call them at 866-779-5835.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

I have a sharp R1480. Probable trouble in control or switch. Began by needing to hit or push harder on the start button to engage the micro. After a while it didn't respond at all. I did order a control...

It may be a bad membrane keypad or a simple a door switch issue. It's rarely the control circuit board (control unit).

Hood range microwave not heating up

We had one that did the same thing. my brother got so mad at it he put a wrench in it and turned it on. It didn't do anything to it. No power surge nothing. It acted as if I put a plate of food. Lighted up turned and even beeped when done. The wrench wasn't even hot. Now I do recommend this myself. But we went and got antoher one.
There is something in there that magnifys the power inside the mircowave and it sounds like its out.

Need to replace d3v-16g-3c25 for my sharp micro...where can I get it... .1 amp 124v dc

That sounds like a door switch. Which switch is it? Top, middle, bottom?

Is your model number R1480? If not, please reply back with your model number so we can help you.

The door switches in model R1480 are:

QSW-MA110WRE0 top & bottom switches

FFS-BA016/KIT middle monitor switch with fuse (kit)

You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.

But the best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

If none of this info helps you, please reply back with your brand and model number and let me know which part you need.

Microwave won't START!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's usually a broken tab on the upper switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position.

This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

While replacing the switch holder is the preferred solution, using hot glue to secure the switch to the holder is much easier and quicker. Just be sure not to let the door be slammed from now on.
