Hi Shane, There must be a bad fuse or fusible link, a broken cable or a bad earth connection. Check the cables coming from the battery to the starter motor and the fuse box. Make sure the negative connection is clean and well tightened and that there are no corroded cables inside the plastic insulation, especially those connected to the battery. Regards John

I have a 2002 astro van , was driving it just shut down. No power, lost all power including breaks and power steering, battery is drained, won't take a jump , what can it be? Please help

alternator (generator) problem. Could easily be the drive belt tension or a faulty alternator.
Having said that, the first thing to check would be the battery itself.
It can cause exactly this problem. Change in outdoor temp, moisture etc can just flatten a battery. Charge up the old one and see if it holds a charge. If it looks like it's leaking or corroded, put a new one in. If the same thing happens, check generator.
Batteries are strange things. work for years and years then one day...nothing. Can happen with new ones too, rare now, but still happens. Extreme changes in weather, low fluids (although most batteries are sealed now).
So......battery first (check fuses too) then if persists...generator.
Hope this helps.....good luck..

2003 Saturn vue awd 3.0 testing showed alternator putting out about 1/2- we replaced the alternator & the serpentine belt,- red wire?the new alternator in did not solve the problem-battery is new-

How do you know it's only putting out about 1/2 ? an 1/2 what ? Amps or volts ? Did you hook up a volt meter to the battery posts ? red to red an black lead to negative post of the battery ? Does it show 13.1 to 14. 1 volts with the engine running , if so it's charging . The only thing that would cause the alternator not to put out full charge amps would be a bad diode inside the alternator or a power or ground issue. You need to check power an grounds doing a voltage drop test . Voltage Drop Testing the Charging System

Engine electrical system

Replace the battery cables. They can corrode under the insulation and you cannot see it. Make sure the terminals are clean.
