I have recently replaced the belt on my 18 month old hotpoint VTD00G tumble dryer. For those are having difficulties doing this; I started by taking off the front panel and the side panel. I first fed the belt over the drum, and then with a flat head screw driver, levered the belt under the motor shaft. Make sure that the belt is the right way up (ribs in contact the shaft). When I plugged my dryer it in all it does is make a buzzing sound. I took off the rear panel and manually spun the impeller, the impeller rotates my dryers drum freely, so no problem there. Is it more likely that my motor is damaged or is more likely that the fault is due to a fault in the dryer start relay switch?

How do I remove the front and side panel to a hotpoint dryer? Do I need any speceal tool to do it. I need to get to the belt to lube it. I think. Dryer works but makes a hi pitched squeel and does this for the first 5 minutes and then seems to worm up and quite down.
