SOURCE: why can't I play a turntable through my
Turntables have a very low output level. Receivers with a phono input have a op-amp to boost the signal level.
What you can do: Check the turn table it may have a line level switch under the rubber mat, otherwise you can get a phono amp ($20-$40) to boost the signal. and input it to any unused input on the receiver.
SOURCE: hello my sony audio/video control
PROTECT display indicates that receiver got serious problem in output amplifier section and protection mode is activated to avoid further damage.
Output amplifier section should be tested by qualified technician to find out and replace defective part(s) to solve this issue. Local repair shop will do this job as it is not user level repair.
Thanks.
