New install: Fan came on, remote changed fan speed once and turned light kit on once. Then would not do anything except the light in the remote comes on when buttons are pressed. I bought new batteries and changed them out with the same results. Fan model 300004DBK 54" Meridith Fan Remote model UC7206T

This sounds like one of the most common problems with Hampton Bay's remote-contolled fans...either the transmitter (remote control) or the receiver (mounted in the fan, typically inside the ceiling canopy) has gone haywire. A circuit has blown or something is short-circuited, and it has a mind of it's own. The only fix is to replace the receiver and transmitter, which are relatively cheap and sold as a pair at your local Home Depot and Lowes.
Hope that helps! If you ave any other questions, feel free to ask!

Hello burrow31. There maybe a switch located on the fan stating 'remote/manual'. Check your manual. Remove the battiers in your remote and short out the battery contact terminals. Reinstall the battiers, start the fan and after fan has reached set speed press & hold fan speed button for one second. Still no speed change contact the Mgfr. with model & serial #.

I'm pretty sure that home depot does sell remotes for that brand, although you may have to buy a new receiver to go with it. Otherwise try a lighting store near where you live. They seem to be able to order things like that.

The Remote (TRANSMITTER) control AND the RECEIVER must both be set to the same CODE in order for the REMOTE to operate the fan.
!!WARNING!! YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY ZONE!!
The RECEIVER is located in the CANOPY, the part of the fan assembly next to the ceiling which is also called the Hanger Bracket.
At the bottom of the Canopy you will see what looks like a large flat washer. Rotate the washer counter-clock wise to release it.
Then rotate the Canopy counter-clock wise to release and lower it. You will see the RECEIVER, which will have a short antenna at one end, tucked in among the electrical wire and bracket. Simply pull the RECEIVER out and you will see the CODE switches. Remember to set both devices to the same CODE.
Good luck. :)

check the hard wiring from the factory. Where the light kit attaches to the fan check the wires in the factory cubes to make sure none are coming off. I had a similar problem that kicked my **** for a few minutes but I saw a loose wire after a bit of research. My fan also clicked but never turned on. Also pull the chains on the fan/light to make sure they are on. Hope something works for you.
