I have seen this problem posted before. The red light comes on but when the power button is pushed the light goes out and nothing happens. I am assuming that it is the capacitors on the power supply that are bad. Someone else mentioned that the bad caps will be bulged out on the top but I am staring at the power supply and all of the caps look fine. The large 450v 150uF cap has a very slightly rounded top but I don't know if that is normal. If anyone knows that this is a power supply problem for sure and if the capacitors could still be bad please let me know. Thanks in advance!
If that large capacitors is defective, the TV should still power up normally but it might produce a humming noise through the speakers.
I would suggest to check very carefully the capacitors on the secondary side of the circuitry, specially the 1000uF that filter the 5vdc line.

Thirst thing to try is take the batterys out of the remote and push all of the buttons to get any electric static for say 3 to 5 minutes if that don't work try to see if your remote signal works by using your iphone and take a few photos of the remote beam when pressing ,or the remote in the tv might have gone. Ps happened to me
Hi, I had the "Ghost In The Machine". I tried out what I descibed in my original posting.
#1. I unplugged The Set.
#2. I pushed in and held in the power button in for about 5 minutes before bedtime. ( The PC trick I learned) I gave it 5 minutes because a tv set has much more power inside it.
#3. I again pushed in and held the power button in again for 3 minutes the next morning.
#4. I plugged the tv in again. The red standby light was lit. The set did not immeadiatly come on when I tried to power it up.
#5. 5 Minutes later I returned and hit the power button on the remote and it came on like nothing ever was wrong.
#6. It has been fine now for 3 days!!! Powers up when commanded and shuts down like normal. It has yet to come back on or act up as it was doing.
I will keep a watch on it and if it starts up acting again I will repost. I hope this information will be of use to anyone who experienced the same problem. It didn't cost a dime, just some patience. Thanks for a forum that people can exchange information and save trouble and money unless all options are exhausted. Bill
A fuse is not your problem. this TV has a safty feture that when it senses a problem it cuts the power to prevent any fouther damage, when you un plug it the TV resets and it will turn on agian. I have the same TV Check the CRT light guns there are 3 of them. If one goes bad it will cause your problem.
