Changing the freezer settings won't really make a difference because regardless its still going to be freezing. The way the machine works is the freezer cools the fridge, and there should be a control in the fridge that operates the baffles in the airway between the freezer and fridge and reduces the amount of air that enters into the fresh food section.

SOURCE: everything in fridge freezes intermittently

Your vent has and electronic vent controlled by a setting on the control board. The electronic vent or circuit board are most likely the reason for the problem.

The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not cooling. The motor is running constantly. I did accidently leave the fridge door ajar for a few hours

Check to see if the cold air supply from the freezer to the fridge section is blocked and that the fan is running. The fridge uses cold air from the freezer to cool and many times the intake is blocked by something in the freezer compartment.

Refrigerator the freezer is cold but other side is not, when I have the freezer door open cold air blows through the vent to the other side through the vent

First thing to try is Powering off the FF at the mains supply and leaving it standing for 30 minutes. Make sure that you do not open any of the doors or touch any of the controls during this time. Then reconnect the power and wait for 30 to 60 minutes to see if the fault remains or is cured.

In side by sides if the freezer side is working OK and the fridge side is not working correctly it means that the air vent from the freezing unit to the fridge compartment has stuck in the closed or partially closed position which causes the fridge to not be any where near as cool as it should be. If it is too cold then the vent is stuck in the open position and the fridge temperature will continue to fall and become the same as the freezer, thereby freezing the contents of the fridge compartment. It can also get stuck in another position so that if the temperature is adjusted on the front panel then nothing happens to the temperature in the fridge compartment. The vent, which is usually at the tope of the fridge compartment on the side where it joins the freezer compartment, is controlled by a small sync motor and either the motor has become faulty, the control module is faulty or the vent is iced up. It can be come iced up by putting too many hot items in the fridge so the steam condenses and freezes the vent in position and then the motor cannot open or close it causing it and / or the control module to become faulty. Other times it is just old age that causes the motor and / or the control module to fail. If the sync motor and vent are working Ok then there may be a fault with the fridge temperature sensor or main on board controller that will mean that the sensor or the controller will need replacing.

Also worth checking the return air path from the fridge and making sure it is not blocked or frozen up. Also check the freezer compartment and cooling panel at the rear (behind the cover plates) and the fan for icing / blockage up as it sounds like there is a mini vacuum being created when the freezer door is closed or you have too much in the frezer so it presses on the back plate and stops the mini fan circulating air to the fridge.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Jenn Air JCD2389 fridge not cold on fridge side

You have plugged the defrost drain line. This is where the water goes to in the bottom of your freezer when it goes through the defrost (removal of ice from the freezer coil) cycle. It sounds like that hole is plugged and now the water/ice has now frozen in the vent that lets air circulate down into your refrigerator compartment. What I usually do in this case is to unplug the refrigerator, empty out the freezer compartment. Usually I also end up either pulling off the back panel or the bottom panel (in the freezer compartment) Looking for that defrost drain hole and thawing it out with a heat gun (be careful of melting plastic) or actually I use a hair dryer. I can sometimes do this also by pouring small amounts of HOT tap water onto it and then sopping/absorbing it away with a sponge or dishcloth. I repeat this until I get the water to go down the drain tube.

Try it and let me know!
