You said you have the Technics SL-B2 and it works great. I do not have the manual and wonder if you could tell me what the pitch adjustment does. I've moved it back and forth but am not sure if it changes anything but am not sure what I should be looking for. Also what number should the anti-skipping knob be set on and what numbers should the adjustment at the end of the arm be set on? Would any of these adjustments help to eliminate crackles on some records? Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks
The pitch is just the speed, adjust to your liking.
"How do I adjust tracking pressure and anti skate?
If you are lucky enough to have these two adjustments here's how: Move tracking force counter weight till needle suspends/hovers above record. then rotate numbers to zero. (this is zero grams pressure on record) then rotate weight AND numbers to recommended tracking pressure for your needle usually 1.5 to 3 grams is average. Then rotate anti skate to be equal. That should get you there. If you still have adjustment related distortion then it may be time for a new needle.
NOTE: Anti skate is adjusting side to side pressure WITHIN GROOVE of record. Tracking pressure is how hard the needle is pushing down inside the groove." from

lots of crackles are caused by crummy records and needles. to some small degree are unavoidable no matter what, but above all the records must be clean.
someday the manual may show up for free here
