Web cam My web cam vidoe recorder works and audio recorder works as well but when i record videos there is no audio. My settings are checked for audio to be recorded with my videos but when i play back there is absolutley no sound. Now if i just record audio it does work with no video. I dont understand whats wrong with it

If you go into your start menu, go to accessories, then click on sound recorder you can use that application to record only audio.

I have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue. The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours either. You have to change the settings for your computer system & Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound> recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your default & apply it. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the "Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel. I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.

check your sound settings and make certain you haven't muted the audio input

Normal 0 Go to "TOOLS", click on "OPTIONS," Then go to "Audio Settings" and click on it. Make sure both the Microphone and Speaker's are correctly chosen. Then "make a free test call." Wait till the voice tells you to record. Then when finished talking wait for the test persons voice to insure your audio transmission is working. Then go back to options and test your video settings. Click on Video Settings and proceed to set up you video camera. Also, you can visit this site for additional information to setup video.

Check whether your PC connection is 'composite video', otherwise u have to use a separate audio line in and a mixer support to achieve adding the audio.

The lack of audio may occur due to driver setting or due to setting error in your digital recorder (DV cam). Try setting the same in your dv cam thru the setup menu...

Also don't forget to check the integrity of the connected audio cables :)
