When playing a recorded program, there is intermittent sound loss, pixelating, or complete stoppage for a second, as though there was bad reception, but it doesn't happen except on playback.
I have the sam problem playing a recorded program, there is intermittent sound loss, pixelating, or complete stoppage for a second, as though there was bad reception, but it doesn't happen except on playback. It is not bad reception, it is related to the recording on the hard drive. I have had temporary luck by reformatting the hard drive:
With power on push the red reset button on the front of the unit. When it comes up to the blue "hello" screen and then turn black push and hold the record button and down arrow on the front panel of the DVR, for at least 5 seconds. The record light should come and reformat the hard drive. This is a LAST RESORT AS IT WILL ERASE ALL PROGRAMS AND ALL SETTINGS you have previously made.

Re: Problem with playback on DVR - R15-500 receiver.
Check your signal strength on your second tuner. Dont forget to check all satellites and, if you use the signal meter instead of system test, a few odd and a few even transponders.

no hard drive in the dct6200 it is not a digital video recorder (dvr)
it can do video on demand which kinda streams to you and can pause and rewind and such.... however, it will not pause live tv or record for later playback...
Hi 97smash, my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see where thereceiver needs to be reset for it to watch TV. There are some things you cancheck to clear up this issue, please select the buttons of MENU-6-1-1 andselect Check Switch and then Test. After all the test complete please try torecord a new program or show to make sure it plays all the way through, if youhave any questions please e-mail me at [email protected]and I will be able to assist you more with this issue.
Hello! Daniel Busa with Dish Network here. That actually happened to me about a month ago a hard reset resolved it for me. If that doesn't do it try deleting all of the recordings that don't play back correctly, reset it again and keep an eye on things, it may be a bad box.
Hi jpdcmc I was reading overyour post and there is one thing I wanted to add. If the program is notbroadcast in Dolby 5.1 when you do the playback it won't play back in Dolby5.1. I will leave a link so you can verify all steps are done to insure yourgetting Dolby playback. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/dolby-not-working
It sounds as though the hard drive is about to go south on you soon and the receiver is going to need to be replaced however, in the interim you can change the options of the recordings and make it a default so that the recording continues past the end of the show. It is possible that extending this time will allow you to view the portion you want before it skips to the end. In order to do this press the guide button and select a program in the future. On the create timer screen select the option icon. You will now be at the timer options screen you can extend the time the recording will last after the end of the show and when it will begin recording prior to the show. I would also set this as your systems default so that it performs the same way regardless of what you are recording. According to the latest known receiver issues this is not identified as it is a common indication that the hard drive has an error internally. If this works I suggest that you have a replacement sent to you so that you do not lose the use of your DVRun-expectantly.Remember to watch all recorded events prior to replacement as you will lose that info when the receiver is swapped. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
Assuming that there is no loss of signal detected by the system and an 015 message being presented onscreen and that you have adequate record time available than your hardrive in the receiver is almost gone. You will need to have the receiver replaced. When this is done you will lose all recorded programs. The Dish Vip series of receivers offer a USB port that can be used to either expand the recording capacity of a DVR receiver with an external hardrive or if you get a non dvr unit e.g. 211, 222 you can eliminate the DVR fee each month by turning the option on for the external hardrive at a one time fee of 39.99. This will save you money by not paying the dvr fee anymore and alleviate having your recordings being lost if the receiver ever goes bad. I hope this assists you and thanks for using Fix Ya.
Your recording will record onto your one DVR box, for playback on either tv. On many satelite boxes you have to search for the program you want by entering the name. Then select the program and select to record the future broadcast.
it sounds like its going to be corrupted but to keep this from happening again you shoud do a hard reset which is unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging back in
