Suspecct failure of the heating element, use a continuity tester to check the element or the connection to the element as the mains wire is OK. Disconnect the power to test.

Use a instant adhesive that can stand up on heat without which you need to replace the whole unit.

Does it still heat at all? There is a thermal fuse that trips if the iron gets too hot. The fuse can be purchased from DigiKey and others, but it is not easy to replace, and you need a multi-meter to check the fuse. I have repaired dozens of flat irons, not sure about that brand but they're all nearly the same.

because it is automatic so it turns on and off after heating at a certain temperature it turns off automatically.

i'm lookin gfor a solution too; mine was fine one day, now both plates wont heat, even though it says its gotten to the temperature i set. Someone else said the heating coils might've burned out and to get a new one?

most iron cases can not be seperated from the iron plate but, if you can take off the bottom plate you will see a heating element and attached to that a small cylinder it has a point on one side and a flat end on the other it is called a thermal fuse and radioshack sells them
they are made in different versions so take the fuse in to get the right one clip it back in and your iron should work again
