Emerson EWR20V4 DVD Recorder/VCR Logo

Programming errors I have two soaps I record every day Mon-Fri. I use dvd and the 6hr record time. Lately I've noticed that the timer settings are in error and I have to click setup on the remote to set them up for the next day. Even with both ready to record the second timer program never records because something is causing it to go into an error state. Because I'm as work when this is happening I can't troubleshoot it. Any suggestions?

Several things to check 1) Your time - set it manually and remove the automatic time set 2) Try manually recording even a few min of anything (just put on channel to record, press DVD button and DVD Record button) - does it give you an error message on that disk? If so it might be because you are using 16x and machine sometimes gets messed up and won't record on those speed disks - same with +R sometimes does this - try recording on 8x -R ones. Hopefully this helps - if not try unplugging unit from wallsocket and leave off about 30min then try setting program again etc (plus current local time) and use a new disk and see if problem still occurs - sometimes just unplugging it "resets" everything and then starts working again.

How do I set a program to record weekly, can do it 24 hours ahead up to one week.

On the timer record screen, move the cursor left to the 'date' field, and scroll down until the date disappears, and it only shows a day of the week. If it shows 'Mon', your programme will record every Monday.

Magnavox MDR533HF7 timer programmer records wrong channel sometimes

You have to record some channels manually and you can not use the timer. Since TV went digital the channels are not really on the channel that you see. Where I live channel 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and so on are really on channel 35 and 45. This tuner has a hard time with these channels because they are not on the station that you see and it does not look like this will be fixed.

How to set it to 12 hours on 12 hours off

You posted under Woods 59377 timer.
Open following page to identify timer for sure:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59377

Manual appears below
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59377.pdf

1) When programming, you can set 8 programs with choices of different blocks of days.
In your case, you want 1 program (Prog1) for all days of the week: So when selecting days, you want MON, TUES, WED, THURS, FRI, SAT, SU to display

2) When programming, you first set Prog1 ON, and then select all days as shown above, then set hour for 12am, and then set minute for 00.

3) Secondly you set Prog2 OFF, and then select all days as shown above, then set hour for 12pm, and then set minute for 00.

4) If 12am and 12pm do not display for some reason, then set times for 11:59am and 11:59pm.

5) Programming steps:
-Press PROG button until 1 and ON display. This is Prog1 ON.
-Press DAY button to select days
-Press Hour button to set hour
-Press MIN button to set minute
-Prog1 ON is set

-Press PROG button until 1 and OFF display. This is Prog1 OFF.
-Press DAY button to select days
-Press Hour button to set hour
-Press MIN button to set minute
-Press PROG button to validate settings
-Prog1 OFF is set
-Press CLOCK button to return to current time

6) Manual shows other features

Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, expert speaks with you over phone while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

I also am having trouble with this timer. I've got the program set for when I want it to go on but can't figure out how to put in the time I want it to stop. I don't understand where the countdown timer...

ETW350 is programmable timer that offers 3 different timer
functions: Program, countdown and random.
Timer has 20 different settings.
UPM site is not available recently, but UPM timers are still being sold.

Operation manual is not very clear how to program ON and OFF times.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/UPM-etw350.pdf

That being said, usually with programmable timers, you program ON time. And then program OFF time.

I do not own this timer so I can't test ETW350 like I've tested other timers.
I think the way this timer works, is program1 is ON.
And program2 is OFF.
Again, manual is not CLEAR about ON and OFF times.

Following instructions assume timer is wired correctly, timer is set for current time, and you want to set 'timer' function and not 'random' function.
Here's how to set program1.
Press arrow buttons until 1 shows in display. This is program1.
Press Set button.
Select day for program1 ON using arrow keys
Press Set button.
Select hour for program1 ON using arrow keys.
Press Set button.
Select minute for program1 ON using arrow keys.
Press Set button.
Use arrow keys until 2 appears on display. This is program2.
I believe program2 is for OFF times.
Set program2 using same steps above.
Be careful to match ON and OFF days ... for example ON 7pm Monday and OFF 9pm Friday will keep lights on from Mon through FRI.
Conflicts in programming will cause timer not to work. For example program1 ON 7pm Monday, program2 OFF 9pm Monday ... but programs3-4 say opposite times.
Make a schedule of program times before starting to avoid conflicts.
Try steps above and test fire that timer, and then add a comment.

Are the 7 different programs for 7 different days or are they exclusive?

There are 7 ON events and 7 OFF events
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59028-59018.pdf

When programming the timer, you select individual days or blocks of days.
For example program1 ON time
Set the Hour
Set the minutes
Press the day key to scroll through the possible choices.
Then you set program1 OFF time
Set the hour
Set the minute
And then press the day key to scroll through the possible choices.

The choices are:
Each individual day
Monday thru Friday
Sat-Sun
Monday thru Sat
Monday thru Sun
Monday-WED-FRI
Tues-Thurs-Sat
Mon-Wed
Thurs-Sat

The key is to set the ON and OFF times for the same days or blocks of days
For example program1 ON is 8:00 am Mon thru Friday
Set program1 OFF for 3:00 pm Mon thru Friday

and then program2 ON is 8:30am Sat-Sun
program2 OFF is 5:00pm Sat-Sun

Program 3 ON is 6:00pm Tues-Thurs-Sat
Program3 OFF is 9:00pm Tues-Thurs-Sat

Program4 ON is 6:00pm Sat
Program4 OFF is 11:00pm Sat

Programs5, 6 and 7 might not be needed

The key is to make a chart of times before setting timer.
The chart will prevent conflicts in programming where the timer does not operate as expected.

HOW TO RECORD CONTIUOUSLY

what do you mean? you can set it to record mon-fri or
weekly. you do that on the timer. if you want to record the whole 6 or 8 hour tape
just press record the tape will go off itself at end of tape some vcrs you can set manual timers by pressing record button
more than once and can set to record up to 6 or 8 hours .
if it don't do that just leave it on record it will fill up tape until end
but will stay on same channel.
timers are unreliable if u make just one mistake it might miss
the show.
