When i turn on the machine it goes through the normal check. Upon warm up and initial scanner sweep the error code sc41-03 shows on the LCD screen.
The 41-04 is a failed cyan write unit, or a failed suction/ exhaust fan. You can test fans m43,m44,m45,m46. In 47 mode, code 42, multi code 6.

DS Dual 4 even works with SnowLeopard on a CoreDuo MBP. But it doesn not support Autofocus when used under USB2. You have to use a USB1.1 Port, if you want to use autofocus function. Every time the software crashes, because you tried e.g. to use autofocus with USB2, you will have to close the application, go to the folder User/Library/Preferences/DS Dual4/... and look whether there is a file name something like "MFSlib...." and pull it to the trash bin. You can start the application again. PS.: Your keyboard USB port is a USB 1.1 port!

It's possible there are no drivers running under W 7 for this remarkable unit and it's a shame .
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD .
You could also partition your HDD and install W XP on the new one .
Otherwise ... trashbin . Yes , life is hard .

In this case what you can do is :
1) Uninstall the Scanner Driver Software from your PC
2) Check All the cables of the scanner are properly connected.Check both DC terminal and USB.
3) Restart the PC
4) Restart the Scanner (Switch Off and the switch On after 1 Minute)
5) Install the Scanner Software Driver in PC and check.
