Try re installing the usb2 drivers from the motherboard drivers. Although they will not show up as as usb 2 in the device properties, use sisoft sandra (free download), as this will show them as high speed or usb2.
Sisoft sandra is a free tool which enables you to see the inside of your pc so to speak.
It has a USB section that tells you the port speeds and what peripherals are connected and can be used as high speed or usb2.

When I use the original motherboard drivers, it tells me they don't need to be loaded for XP Sp1,2.
I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the service packs and tried multiple nios versions including a beta version.
What is sisoft sandra?
Thanks for the help....
Hi,
I have run sisoft sandra and it is reporting that my PC USB supports Low (1.5mbps) to Full Speed (12mbps).
I can't find a link to rate the solution?????
Cheers,
Brian.
Still not working.
I tried to reload the motherboard drivers as supplied. No good. Not required with SP2.
Have tried various new bios downloads, Sp1, Sp2 and shouting at them to get them to work. Sadly all fails.
Sisoft says they are capable of up to 12 mbps full speed which should be USB 2 cos thats what was stated when I bought the machine.
Contacted Asus who kindly asked me to install SP2 and send the machine back to the supplier to have the ports tested.
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
I am seriously considering shoving strawberry jam in the USB ports to see if that helps. (not recommended by Asus apparently).
However, you're suggestions have actually got me further forward, which Asus apparently seem incapable of.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Incidentaly, I am an IT consultant who has been around PC's for years, but this one is one I cannot solve.
Thanks for the help.
Incidentally - still can't see how to rate the solutions!!!!
Cheers,
Brian.
