Hi could someone please help I have a hotpoint aquarius wml760 washing machine. it has started to make a really load knocking noise when it spins at high speed I even reduced the spin speed but still made loud noise. I tried it empty on a spin cycle and it does not make any noise. I have check the drum and there seems to be no movement up or down and when I turn the drum by hand everything seems fine no noise at all any ideas many thanks Crystal
More than likely the rear bearing has gone bad and when a load is applied the difference in weight distribution causes the knocking.

have you checked to see if the brushes on the motor need changing these wear down after alot of use over time.
SOURCE: WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin
If the machine pumps water inside but does not start :
Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.
If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.
For more details , see: It doesn't spin
