Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer Logo
Posted on Dec 01, 2008

I have a Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 front load washer. I keep getting the DL and F11 error. The door is locked and won't open and the cycle will not continue. I can hear a small clicking noise in the control panel as if something is trying to connect but it doesn't and that's when the error signal comes on.

I have the same problem. I've now unplugged the washer after each time I use it (unplug about 20 minutes between washes) and I haven't had the problem anymore. Don't know why this works but... :)

I have the exact same problem. I have paid for an assistance call from this organization. Let's see how it goes.

I have the same exact problem as Happymail, I keep getting the door lock error and F11 (which i have read means power failure) and the clicking noise .$800 in just the last 6 months to get this washer working to no avail. Just had the lock fixed again last week for $145 and it won't work again. I bought this machine brand new from Sears 3 years ago. The are a joke and so are all of their appliances which we bought many at the same time as the washer.

I have had my washer for almost 5 years. Its worked fine till 6 months ago. f11 code all the time several restarts to finish load. I did purchase the 5 year warranty, and sears has been out 3 times in the last 5 months. They never fixed the problem. Every time they came out the said there was a loose plug at best, tested the load, "unloaded", and claimed it was fixed. I said it wasnt the 2nd and 3rd time, and that they hadn't tested it with a load. I have now scheduled my next service call and will be writing the better business bureau. Maybe they should use "duct tape" if they can't get the plug to stay. I wonder why the plug stayed for the previous 4 years? go figure. Make sure they use duct tape when the "fix" it.

I took the advice from someone that posted on this site about taking the top off and by taking the ccu unit and popping it loose from how it is held to the washer. This process is very simple to do. Once you have it loose, take some large rubberbands or small bunge cords and hang the ccu unit from these. It sounds crazy but we were getting the F11/DL code on every wash and now we have done several loads and not one error code. The best thing is we didnt spend any money to fix the problem.

We have a Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 Washer that we have had for 5 years. It has been flashing F11 and DL back and forth for months. We had a tech come out (not sure he knew what he was talking about) and...

The symptoms are pretty specific for the F11 code on the Whirlpool Duet front loaders and clones (Kenmore Elite and KitchenAid):

If the washer starts to fill but the drum NEVER moves, your MCU is bad

If the washer runs through most of a cycle and then gives the F11 before (or during) a rinse or spin cycle, then you have the CCU relay problem.

If you are interested in having me repair your CCU for you, I offer that service on eBay (website coming soon). My username there is "jhagner"

Thanks

I have a Kenmore Elite HE4T quietpak 9 washer. It has stopped the wash load with about 11 minutes left several times. It gives and error code DL then F alternating. The door remains locked and anytime...

Hi,

The error you have is due to a failure in the door latch mechanism. There is a way to manually open the door if you are a little handy I can send you some instructions, it requires pulling the lower panel off (3 screws).

Let me know if you want me to help on this.

Door won't open

the lock switch is probably stuck. make sure machine is off but plugged in still. Push in on the door while gently giving a couple of thumps around the lock area and the lock will probably "click" open.

I have a Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 HE3T Washer. The door is locked with clothes in it. The displays is saying F dL. What has happened and how can we open the door.

FdL Door lock error A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock it six times before displaying the error code.

Possible Causes / Procedure

• Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
• Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

With the front door open, see if you can rotate the basket freely.  If not, most likely the bearing of the rear tub is worn out.  You will have to replace the whole rear tub which is about $300 for the part.  I am having the same issue with my Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 2.  I'm contemplating with just buy a new top-load washer.

Kenmore HE 9t quiet pak

Sounds to me like the Main Computer has failed. F11 means it is not communicating with the Motor control Board. It has nothing to do with the door locks. Remove to lid of the machine to axcess Main control. Sometimes a tap or two on the board makes them work again for a short time. Leave unit powered down for a few mins to reset board.
