We have a Mitsubishi WS-65511 65 in TV. The picture recently started showing a blue shadow. Over the past week it has incresingly gotten worse. Any suggestion on what the problem might be? Is this something we can fix or will we have to have a repair person come out. TV is no longer under warranty, of course.

faults & possible causes to LCD lasma screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Faults to all LCD screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Looks like the t-con board failing, or a lose connection to the t-con or screen ribbons off the t-con board to the screen.
its fitted to the screen back under the shield will look similar to this.

You need to resolder the convergence chips. This is a very common issue with this line of TVs.
Hometheaterspot.com's Mitsubishi forum has detailed posts on how to fix this. Just serach for "55809 convergence" and you should find the info you need.

There is a Convergence option in the Menu under Advanced Options. It allows you to set the colors so they line up. I've had my TV for about 6 years and I need to do it every week or so now.

Go into your service menu and try to adjust the convergence, if it does not adjust, the IC's ( chips) are bad in that circuit. Call a local factory authorized dealer to service your tv. The cost should run around $450.00. Good luck.
