I use Windows 7 / 64. I had Gimp installed and it worked fine. Decided to try Gimpshop, so I uninstalled Gimp, and downloaded and installed Gimpshop. When I try to start Gimpshop, I get this message: "The program can't start because libgimpui-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Reinstalling did not fix it. I found a copy of the file on a dll download site, but when installed in my System32 folder, I got an error message that it may not be compatible with my version of Windows. I'm no programmer, and further searches on the subject have only served to confuse me more. Oh, and then I read somewhere on this site that under no circumstance should you download .dll files from a dll download site. Ack! Any help will be much appreciated!
The problem is you didn't completely uninstall Gimp before you installed it again so the Gimp install file got confused when it found some residual files or registry keys from a previous install and thus it skipped installing some files (libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was one of them for sure) You need to completely uninstall Gimp before you can install it again properly. Get a copy of Revo uninstaller from the link below and use it to uninstall Gimp for you. You should be good to go after that.

The problem with that is, I already uninstalled GIMP - it's too late to use Revo unistaller on it. And a search of my hard drive shows no files left with 'gimp' in them.
Then install it again and uninstall it. Let revo run the uninstall and it will get the registry keys that are messing with you.
Oooh kay -- I installed it again, and just to check, I tried opening it, and it works fine, no error message. Weird, but OK with me.
Thanks so much for your help.
Awesome... I'm glad you were able to get it to work... Computers can be psychotic sometimes.
