Need help with missing libgimpui-2.0-0.dll file

I use Windows 7 / 64. I had Gimp installed and it worked fine. Decided to try Gimpshop, so I uninstalled Gimp, and downloaded and installed Gimpshop. When I try to start Gimpshop, I get this message: "The program can't start because libgimpui-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Reinstalling did not fix it. I found a copy of the file on a dll download site, but when installed in my System32 folder, I got an error message that it may not be compatible with my version of Windows. I'm no programmer, and further searches on the subject have only served to confuse me more. Oh, and then I read somewhere on this site that under no circumstance should you download .dll files from a dll download site. Ack! Any help will be much appreciated!

The problem with that is, I already uninstalled GIMP - it's too late to use Revo unistaller on it. And a search of my hard drive shows no files left with 'gimp' in them.

Then install it again and uninstall it. Let revo run the uninstall and it will get the registry keys that are messing with you.

Oooh kay -- I installed it again, and just to check, I tried opening it, and it works fine, no error message. Weird, but OK with me.

Thanks so much for your help.

Awesome... I'm glad you were able to get it to work... Computers can be psychotic sometimes.

The problem is you didn't completely uninstall Gimp before you installed it again so the Gimp install file got confused when it found some residual files or registry keys from a previous install and thus it skipped installing some files (libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was one of them for sure) You need to completely uninstall Gimp before you can install it again properly. Get a copy of Revo uninstaller from the link below and use it to uninstall Gimp for you. You should be good to go after that.

Cant sign on to computer

    • 1 Download the missing comctl32.dll file. Locate a website that offers the comctl32.dll file. You can also use the link in the Resources section.
    • 2 Unzip the download file if it is a .zip-type file. Right-click on the file and choose "extract" to make the file available in a .dll format.
    • 3 Install the missing comctl32.dll file in the proper folder on the computer. If the operating system is 64-bit Windows, copy comctl32.dll to the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder. If the operating system is 32-bit Windows, copy comctl32.dll to the "C:\Windows\System32" folder.
    • 4 Restart the computer by clicking on the "Start" button and selecting the "Restart Computer" option.
    • 5 Open the computer program that previously displayed the error message stating that the file comctl32.dll was missing. This will verify the program now works properly.

Missing mss32.dll, im using windows 7 ultimate

MSS32.dll is used quote commonly in various games. A fair number of games rely on Windows having this dll file already installed to an indexed folder such as c:\windows or c:\windows\system32. If you are missing this file you should try reinstalling the game first as there are multiple versions of it - my online research shows 3 distinct versions for games like GTA3/4, Zoo Tycoon, and Counter Strike. It also appears it might be used for some graphics programs.
If reinstalling the program that is giving you this error you might try downloading a common version of the DLL file from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mss32. You should first try putting the file in the 2 folders mentioned above, then start putting it in the folder with the program that is claiming the file is missing (for instance: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<account name>\counter-strike source\bin).
I hope this helps!

Notebook says that windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <windows root>/system32/hal.dll.

Causes of the missing or corrupt hal.dll error include, naturally, a damaged hal.dll DLL file or a hal.dll file that has been deleted or moved from its intended location. Additional causes may include a damaged or missing boot.ini file or possibly a physically damaged hard drive.

To fix it:
1) Restart your PC, sometimes the hall.dll error could be an error itself and your PC should boot up fine.
2) Go into the BIOS by pressing the Delete key as the laptop boots. Then navigate to disk boot priority and make sure this is set to your main hard drive (the one that has Windows installed on it). Save and exit the BIOS. Sometimes if you have a USB flash drive/Pen drive or external hard drive it may automatically switch the boot priority to that.
If these two quick steps don't fix the problem then head over to here and continue reading up about repairing the boot.ini file.

I did copied an image from a book so i want to make it bigger

You need photo editing software, like free Gimpshop.

Go to Gimpshop and download program:
This is a very good photo editor, and it's free.
http://www.gimpshop.com/

1) After the download, You have to open gimpshop once so a shortcut appears on desktop.
So go to start, all programs, and look for GIMPshop, and put mouse on GIMPshop, and box appears, and then click on GIMPshop located in that box.
Gimp opens. The close Gimp and see there is a desktop icon.

2) Find the image you want to make bigger.
Hover mouse over your image without clicking mouse, and the size of image will show in small box. For example it will show Dimensions: 1000 x 700
Write down the size

3) Drag and drop your image on top of gimp icon and program will open.

4) Once photo is loaded.
Go to 'Image' at top of program and select 'image size'
You will see numbers for width and height appear in small boxes.
Use your mouse and keyboard to change the numbers and double the size.
For example make new dimensions 2000 x 1400.
Or make it 3 times bigger.
Then click 'scale'

5) You will see the image is bigger.

6) Time to save larger image.
Go to 'File' at top of program
Click 'save a copy'
Box comes up with name. Re-name the image so it does not replace original.
Click save.

7) another box comes up with a 'quality' slider
Move slider to 100%
Click OK

8) Bigger image is saved and ready
