You have to have audio outputs on either your TV or VCR/DVD to input into your stereo. Look for the red and white RCA connectors. Most TV's have RCA inputs for audio and video but not always outputs. VCR/DVD players all have audio out so if you have one of these units connect a RCA cable to a input of your Fisher amp. I hope this helps

How do i get the external audio output to work?

First make sure that your TV has an audio OUT. Most do not. If you do then you can plug into that but you will have to go into the menu on the TV under audio and turn on the external speaker feature. If you do not have an audio OUT then you will have to hook you speaker to the audio OUT of your home stereo system and hook the source output to the input of your stereo. Source being (dvd, cable box). In that case you need to turn off the internal speakers on the TV and just run it through your home stereo system.

Hook mz506 surround sound to my Samsung tv

Typically surround sound is run through a receiver or stereo. The sound from the tv is carried to the receiver by cables (hdmi or Audio-Video connected to input area of receiver). Then the speakers are connected to the output area of the receiver.
If you are not using a receiver, then the speakers must be able to connect directly to the tv and you have to see what kind of cabling your tv supports.

Can't get sound thru my stereo and stereo speakers

If it is just the sound from the computer then if you have windows look for the little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, right click this, select "Sounds" then select playback (while connected to the tv) and chose the tv as the output device (set to default).

If on the other hand the issue is with the tv at all times then try going into the menu settings of the tv and looking for the various sound options. Possibly the remote control will have an audio button that scrolls through various audio options (two circles followed by roman numerals?).

Hope this is of some help.

We have the stereo hooked up to the dynex 42'' tv, as we did our other tv, we can not mute the complete sound and also sometimes we cant turn the volume up and down whats going on?

Since you have it hooked up to the stereo system, you need to go to on screen audio set up and turn off the TV built-in speakers (you will be listening the TV sound through your stereo system speakers), then go to the audio output set up and set it to 'variable' so the audio output of the TV's RCA audio out put will vary with the volume control of the TV (not all TV will alow this function), you will need to set the stereo volume to certain level (around 9~10 O'clock setting) since the sound coming from the TV will be controlled by the TV remote volume control. You can otherwise set the TV output to be at 'fixed' level, which means the sound output of the TV will not be controlled by the TV remote volume control, you will use the stereo remote volume control to adjust the sound level instead. I hope this is clear to you.

I hooked up my stereo amp to my external speakers that were also still hooked up to my tv. now I don't get any audio from my tv just a high pitch sound. Is this an easy fix?

Hi, I can help. It sounds like the TV internal speakers were turned off so that the only speakers to have sound were the external ones. Go to your menu and find the sound area. There you can tell the TV to send sound to the internal speakers once again and not to external.

Getting stereo speakers to work with flat panel tv

if you hook the low-level audio-out from the tv to an input to the stereo unit, whatever you play on tv will send audio to surround/stereo reciever unit. look on back of tv for red &white AUDIO OUTPUT terminals. plug red/white audio cables from tv to the back of your stereo & plug into audio input of an open source on stereo (tv/video,aux. in,etc.) good luck!

Stereo speakers to television.

Please check your tv for any RCA jack labelled "Line Out". The will provide the signal taht you need to connect to your stereo system's Line In jack. Also, to get the Stereo output that you want, yur TV should have a pair of Line Out jacks (color coded red and black or red and white)
