Formatting sdhc cards
SD cards go up to 2GB in size. SDHC cards go from 4GB to 32GB.
The PV-GS35 works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards. Your 1GB and 2GB cards are SD cards. Your new 16GB card is an SDHC card. While SDHC cards fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them.

SOURCE: pV-GS35 to mac connection problems
Do you have another camera that you can use for testing? If so, try connecting that one and see if you get a picture on the Mac. If so, I'd guess a blown Firewire socket on the camera. If not, try a different firewire cable. If that doesn't fix it, suspect the firewire port on the Mac. If it's a Mac Pro, you might try adding a third-party FW card to the system. If some other type of Mac, you may need to send it in for repairs.
If you've completely ruled out hardware problems, did you upgrade QuickTime, recently? I've seen that that sometimes hoses the connectivity between Macs & cameras.

perhaps it has to do with the SP and LP settings, I know certain video editing programs won't capture video recored in LP.
SOURCE: Can I have a driver for panasonic pv gs35 driver vista?
You don't need a driver. Just connect the camera using the cable provided with it; turn the camera on and set it to play movies. The first time it will upload the necessary drivers. THen, use Windows movie maker (it's included in vista, my version at least) to import the movie (if you don't find it, click on the start button and type "movie" on the search box). It's much better than the crappy software provided by panasonic anyways.

Sorry, my question was lame. I can use a 1 gig and a 2 gig schc card, used or not. I just got a 16gig 10c card brand new. I get the error statement with it and a used 4 gig and 8 gig after formattiong them with SDformatter v.3.1. Question, is there a size limit for the pv-gs35 camcorder sdhc card? This card is for snapshots only. Not video. Can find nothing in the manual. Thanks
After reading others comments, I am attempting to take a snapshot, can't do it without an error statement. The other cards all work in Samsung and another digital still camera. Thanks
Thanks, you do not know how much time I wasted trying to find this info out. My wife thanks you also. She gets the 8 and 16 gig cards.
