Top Solution thanks - Take that HP!
Slight amendment as battery is hard to remove:
The battery is accessed by opening top then can be seen on extreme left
at front. No need to take it out, slip a strip of plastic like an old
credit card under the clip on top of battery to insulate it. Then do a soft reset (# and 6 and power
down) with the battery insulated. Power up -
Power down, remove insulator power up. Eureka!
Go to HP site at h10025.www.hp.com and follow their step by step instructions for cleaning cartridges and checking grey latch below ink cartridges. Just might work, otherwise take in for service. Good luck, Brian B
Still working on the problem. Used the Hp site and eliminated a few ideas but finally went on the 800 # and spoke to a guy name Butch, from India of course, a stage name? Well he was not too helpful so I explored the web more and realized that I might have some print head problems. On reset found magenta and yellow were bad. Then calling to find them. Most office supply stores do not carry but did find them at Fry's Electronics here in San Jose, CA.
Still not fixed but trying to eliminate problems.
Any suggestions?

Thanks BillyBean!
Removed battery and soft reset worked for me!
The removal of the battery fix posted on Mar 29, 08 worked for me an my HP OfficeJet dD135.
Thank you very much who ever posted that solution.
I did try the battery removal (lower left-Inside on motherboard extention) and it didn't work. Then did a soft reset (# and 6 and power down) with the batery removed. powered back up (Still no battery) Powered down, reinstalled the battery, powered up and was
able to print. No expired message at all!

My HP 7130xl was telling me that my ink cartridges were expired (which they were) and refused to print. Knowing full well that the cartridges last well beyond their expiration date, and refusing to talk with HP in India, I found (through a little Googling) that if you remove the printers battery, the printer will no longer be able to read the date on the chip on the cartridge. Works for me--hope it helps you. EM

Hi, I have the same problerm, I have changed the cartridge and now it is saying supply expired, replace black cartridge. I cannot print, copy or fax, any one with a solution.
Did any1 get a soloution as i have the same problem!
I think maybe I ran my black cartridge too low on my hp7130xi all-in-one. It has worked flawlessly for years! Now get error message Supply Expires. Replace black ink cartridge. Press enter to continue.
So I put in new cartridge and it says Press enter to Align Printheads and it just returns to main menu with date and time and there is no movement.
Also get supply expires when trying to copy. It is as if printer is in closed loop of software. When checking ink level it now says 89% yet will not proceed.
How do I reset so I can continue
I have the HP 7130xl and still tells me about cartridge expired. I did remove the battery and it unfort. did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions please
