Holmes HM5601 quit working

Humidifier doesn't produce any humid air, and black/dark colored metal (or metal-like) knob-like protrusion inside doesn't get warm or hot at all.

I had the same problem with my Holmes HM5601 humidifer unit - right out of the box. I almost returned the unit to the store, but was able to figure-out the problem. Not enough water had been filling the heating section (where that black knob-like protrusion is) and the lack of enough water had caused the unit to shut-off soon after plugging it in. The problem is in valve at the bottom of the water tank! The valve is a factory defect. It needs to open more when you sit the water tank onto the base so water fills the reservoir. I had solved the problem by going to the hardware store and purchasing some small, rubber pads or feet. These rubber pads are the type used to place under things where you want to protect a table-top from being scratched or you want the item not to slide too easily on a table-top. These rubber feet or pads have an adhesive on the bottom of them. Find the size that matches the diameter of the valve stem on the bottom of the water tank. Once installed, the valve should open and close with your finger without the rubber pad interferring with the operation of the valve. The pad, if installed properly, makes contact with the water reservoir base when you placed the water tank down onto that base. The valve open a bit more allowing water to pass-thru and fill the water reservoir. Water fills the heating section as needed and the unit runs perfectly after! The round rubber pad I had used was about an 1/8 inch thick and 1/2 inch in diameter.

I can't get my humidifier to get the humidity to get over 17% and the dial is set at 30% it goes to 20% and flashes

Without brand and model, my advice is definitely a shot in the dark. Only your manual or your manufacturer's site can inform you of what the flashing means.

Here are some tips that might help you increase the humidity in your room:

Check the humidifier's water level: Make sure that the humidifier has enough water to function properly. If the water level is low, the humidifier may not be able to produce enough moisture to increase the humidity in the room.

Clean the humidifier: Over time, mineral deposits and bacteria can build up in the humidifier, which can affect its performance. Clean the humidifier regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Place the humidifier in the right location: Place the humidifier in a central location in the room, away from walls and other obstructions. This will help the humidifier distribute moisture evenly throughout the room.

Use a humidistat: A humidistat is a device that measures the humidity in the room and automatically adjusts the humidifier's output to maintain a desired humidity level. If your humidifier does not have a built-in humidistat, you can purchase a separate one and use it to control the humidity level in the room.

Here is all the info I found Ser # 50908272 Holmes Humidifier HM-300

It depends on how humid it is in the conditioned space, how well sealed the conditioned room is, and how high you have the humidifier set. If you have low humidity in your conditioned space and you are asking for a higher humidity number, it could go through quite a bit of water. If your room is not sealed well, it will allow lower conditioned air into the room and put a larger demand on the humidifier

My Holmes HM630 humidifier doesn't get up to 40% it levels out 33-34%. How do I get it up to 40-50% air humidity level?

, this cool mist tower is ideal for medium rooms. It provides a refreshingly cool, invisible mist, as well as a digital humidistat which offers precise humidity control for your optimal comfort.

I got this off the Sears website so either the room you're trying to make humid is too large, or the humidistat needs to be set properly. Also make sure there is plenty of water in the tank.

What is the gallons per 24hour output capacity of this unit?

There are several variables that will determine the gallons used per 24 hour period.
  • At what humidity level do you have it set for? The higher the level, the faster consumption.
  • How much air movement is there in the are in the house/area of the humidifier?
  • How air tight is your home?.
  • How may people occupy the home?
  • Whats the temperature setting for your primary heat source?
Let's assume that everything is perfect. Your humidifier holds approximately 6 gallons of water, when completely full. The ideal humidity level depending on the outside air temperature is 40 to 50%. Once the humidity level you have it set for is reached, the humidifier shuts off. When the humidity level drops significantly, it turns back on. So, as you can see, it's difficult to come up with an exact figure. But based on if everything was perfect, about 1.5 to 2 quarts per hour or almost 6 gallons in 24 hours.

For more details on this humidifier call 1-800-546-5637.

Hope this helps you.

I have a brand new hm500 humidifier and when I turn it on I can see the mist being produced in the reservoir but it won?t come out the top. How do I correct this?

If you can see the mist, then, it is working. The outlet
port of your humidifier could be closed/stucked up/clogged. Please check this the outlet port.

How do i know if my humidifier is working? it doesnt produce the white mist

Check your humidistat and it should click close to what you have it set on. Also if your humidifier is not working you can rub your sock feet on the carpet and touch a door knob and get a little shock.

Not getting enough humidity in the air

There are 3 things to check on the humidifier. Check the metal mesh screen, is it wet after the humidistat is call? If it is dry the water solenoid my not be opening or the nozzle is plugged. The circulating fan blows air through the wet screen to add humidity. Does the fan spin when the humidistat is calling? There is an intake and exhaust on the humidifier. Check that the metal was cut out properly when the humidifier was installed to allow air to feely circulate?
