White glass cooktop hard to clean

Every time I cook on my new white glass cook top- I have to scrub it afterwards using the special stuff they gave me with the scrub pad- what a pain- are my pots and pans not condusive to a glass cook top? should I be using a certain type of pots and pans? Even if i just do something easy like boil water I take the pot away and it's all burnt lookin' on the cooktop

  • Anonymous Jan 29, 2009

Me too. It is the WORST investment ever. I would not advise anyone buying a white cooktop. One tip is that baking soda works to clean and is cheap. I put a little water on stains then sprinkle BS, wait a while and then scrub. I do still have shadow areas that have never come clean. It's the pits. had it one year.

First thing I thought of was that your pots have oil or build-up of some kind on the bottom. Try cleaning them with a solvent of some kind. As an experiment, try using a pyrex pot to see if that makes a difference. As for cleaning the cook top, I use a vinegar and water solution with a soft cloth or very low abrasive scrubber as you can scratch the glass quite easily on some kinds.

SOURCE: Jennair cook top

Replacing this top is not too difficult. It is secured by four screws on each side. You might have to remove some of the flanging in the back to pull it off. Make sure to unplug the the unit. I would think that the top might be pricy, but if you take your time replacing it should be no problem.

White scratches on top of amana cooktop

So, your pot scatched the surface of your glas top?
Stop using those pots.
You can repair scatched glass with a very fine "sanding paper", similar to those used to repair the crystal of a watch or reading glass but you should get help form someone who really knows what he is doing

put in kitchen sink with hot hot water over night, with dish washing liquid. preferbly when kitchen is not being used. (After dinner time) drain then spray with mr muscle oven cleaner give it about an hour, then scrub the **** out of them with a stainless steel goldilocks. Rinse then soak in hot water again for 20 minutes then drip dry. After use when cooking always clean any mess left behind. Wipe down so it is easier for you to wash when needed.

How do I clean my amana cooktop. I can't seem to get it clean no matter what products I try from cooktop cleaner to windex

Hi....you can call me M. G. and just to ease your mind, I am an appliance Technician & have been pretty much all of my adult life. Have you tried a product called Cerama Bryte? It looks like calamine lotion only white in color. You have to follow the directions on the back of the bottle & you may have to do it more than once, but it is the best & i don't really recommend anything else. And you are gonna have to find yourself a nonabrasive scuff pad.... and that's gonna help cut that stuff off the glass. best part is that Cerama Bryte makes several products devoted to cook-top cleaning including special Cleaning Pads for glass tops. Windex is the worst thing to use. And as a last resort, I have 1 more method, but you should do just fine with this one. I've seen it remove some serious stuff!! You can re-post if this doesn't correct your issue and I'll explain my "Last Resort Method"to you. And once you get that thing clean (or as clean as it will come), as a suggestion you probably need to clean the cook-top only with a product designed to clean cook-tops and the same day the mess is made so those stains won't build on top of one another. Well, good luck and hope I've been of some help :-)

How do I clean my new electric Jenn-air cooktop with its glass top? Do I need a special cleaner for the glass?

  • Step 1 Wipe up spills as soon as they happen with a clean dry towel. According to the Jenn-Air website, for glass top cooking surfaces, you should do this even if it is hot since it will be harder to clean up later. Be careful not to get burned.
  • Step 2 Use a cooktop cleaner once it is cool. You can also use dishwashing detergent and water or just a baking soda paste (made with water).
  • Step 3 Apply the cleaner to a sponge, cloth or paper towel. For more stubborn stains, you can use a non-abrasive or "scratchless" pad.
  • Step 4 Rub the soiled areas until clean. Rinse well, especially if you used the baking soda paste as that can leave a residue.
  • Step 5 Use a razor blade for burned on and crusty stains that will not come off using the previous methods. Jenn-Air states to hold it at a 30-degree angle to carefully remove the stain.

Cleaning black cooktop surface - what products to use.

It is recommended that you use a straight edge razor blade and push in one direction to remove anything stuck to the surface of a glass cook top. Stubborn, cooked on, substances can be cleaned by scrubbing with a light abrasive cook top cleaner and/or a green kitchen scrub pad. The green srub pads are considered non-abrasive and safe for cook tops. You can also use liquid dish detergent (such as Dawn) to break through grease and grime. DO NOT use steel wool, SOS pads, or any scouring powders. These products can permanently scratch or dull the finish on your cook top. If you have any questions please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Maybe try white vinegar - apparently you can clean glass hobs with it & it might help dissolve the fudge stuff if you pour it on that. I wouldn't use a razor as you might damage the hob more.

I have a Kitchenaid electric range Architect Series II. Seems every time I use the large burner on the right side there is some sort of residue left that is very hard to get off. I have already made a...

What are you using to clean the stove? Only cleaners made for ceran type tops should be used according to directions. Do not use enamel coated pans or glass pans on your cooktop. If you have a boil over, turn off the burner and change to a different burner immediately. Clean up the spill completely before cooking on that burner again. Use a flat edge razor to clean tough residue. Your cooktop will look new for years to come, even with heavy use.

As far as the scratch, don't use abrasive cleaners on the top and only use pots and pans with flat bottoms. If you do use cast iron pans, never scoot them around on the top.

I have a glass top gemini maytag, the top is white I have tried many cleaning products but cannot get it clean.

I used Cerama Bryte cooktop cleaner that I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond. It comes with a scraper and a special scratch pad. I applied it has directed and let it dry on the cooled cooktop and all the burn marks and baked on stuff wiped right off the cooktop. I make sure I use it about once a week and the cooktop stays looking good.

I have a GE glass ~ gas cooktop that is 14 years old. One of the burners has a hard time lighting and just flickers. If I turn on another burner at the same time it will light and I have to turn and push...

I would say that after 14 years your stove could use a checkup/cleaning by a professional who will readjust the settings afterwards so it operates as it should. Don't try it yourself it's dangerous stuff gas.
