Every time I cook on my new white glass cook top- I have to scrub it afterwards using the special stuff they gave me with the scrub pad- what a pain- are my pots and pans not condusive to a glass cook top? should I be using a certain type of pots and pans? Even if i just do something easy like boil water I take the pot away and it's all burnt lookin' on the cooktop
First thing I thought of was that your pots have oil or build-up of some kind on the bottom. Try cleaning them with a solvent of some kind. As an experiment, try using a pyrex pot to see if that makes a difference. As for cleaning the cook top, I use a vinegar and water solution with a soft cloth or very low abrasive scrubber as you can scratch the glass quite easily on some kinds.

Replacing this top is not too difficult. It is secured by four screws on each side. You might have to remove some of the flanging in the back to pull it off. Make sure to unplug the the unit. I would think that the top might be pricy, but if you take your time replacing it should be no problem.

Me too. It is the WORST investment ever. I would not advise anyone buying a white cooktop. One tip is that baking soda works to clean and is cheap. I put a little water on stains then sprinkle BS, wait a while and then scrub. I do still have shadow areas that have never come clean. It's the pits. had it one year.
