But it will ring when my extension is dialed. When the main line rings I have to hit the line that is ringing. This is the only phone that does this. The rest of the phones ring when the main line is ringing and you just pick up the handset to answer the call. When my extension is dialed it rings at my phone and at another persons desk as well. Where I sit is where a big wig used to. No, I'm not a big wig that is why this is annoying. Please help me! This phone is gonna drive me nuts. I've turned off the call forwarding because I didn't know if that would do anything. It didn't. All your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok this post is OLD, but for anyone else having this issue, this is the solution...
There is a programming feature that states: DELAYED RING on certain lines, meaning you can physically see a call coming in to the system (via line flashing), but it will not ring at your desk till something like the 4th ring(hence the name DELAYED ring).
If your set does not ring, and you pick up the heandset, the phone system doesn't know if you want to answer the call -or- you just want to make an outgoing call...
Therefore the Mitel system picks up internal dialtone and waits for you to make the initial reaction (hit 9 for a line out or hit a line that is flashing on the set).
Too change this option, a Mitel Tech is required...
It's even simpler than previously solved; The system administrator can correct this for you in a simple programming change. In the form Multiline set key assignment change the ring type from "No Ring" to "Ring" that's it, done! (I hope you enjoy the digs).
