We has a soon to be 5 year old Duet washer. We love it and have never had problems, until recently. As the machine sits empty, and turned off, for 6 to 8 hours, overnight, the tub will fill with water up to the door. It doesn't use this much water while washing. What could cause it to do this. Is there some valve that could be leaking. It's only been doing this for a couple of months and not all the time. But, this week-end it seems to be worse. I even unplugged it thinking something electronic in the control area was telling it to do this. Any suggestions ? It's a Model # GHW 9250MLO, not a 9150P

I have the same problem. The only problem that I have is not knowing how much water will eventually go into the tub. It takes about 4 or 5 days to accumulate about a gallon. I called the Whirlpool service center and the woman said they recomend turning the water off after each use-I think this is ridiculous. If going away on vaca maybe. Rob
IF YOU REACH IN THE TUB AND SPIN THE BASKET BY HAND IT SHOULD BE SILENT. IF THERE IS NOISE THIS WOULD BE A TUB BEARING. EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR EVEN THO THE REAR TUB SHELL IS A PART ONLY WARRANTY FOR TEN YEARS MOST OF THE TIME. OVER PROBLEMS CAN BE A STRUT, OR THINGS IN THE PUMP. IF IT IS THE TUB BEARING YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TALK TO SOME ONE IN THE SAME ROOM WHEN IT IS SPINNING. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS ATTENTION SOON. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN FUTHER ASSIST YOU.
The problem is more than likely your water inlet valve. The water inlet valve (also known as a mixing valve) is located in the rear of the washer where the fill hoses attach. There is a separate solenoid for the hot and cold water. These two valves are controlled electronically, but the small diaphragm that controls the water turning on and off can become clogged with sediment, or the solenoid can stop working, causing it to not close properly when not in use. With the diaphragm stuck open, the water will leak by and fill the drum over time, causing the problem you are describing.
Long story, short...you can attempt to remove the water inlet valve and clean it with some distilled vinegar and water solution. Or, you can simply replace it with a new one. In either case, you will need to access it and remove it from the washer. The following steps explain how:
1. UNPLUG the washer. 2. Turn off the water supply and remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer. 3. Remove the washer top panel by loosening the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off. 4. The water inlet valve is in the rear of the washer on the left hand side (as viewed from the front). Remove the water dispenser hose and disconnect the electrical connections. 5. Loosen the mounting screw(s) that hold the valve in place and remove.
You can attempt to clean the assembly in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and water by allowing it to soak for about a 30 minutes. Mix a solution in a container and submerge the valve portion only, leaving the electrical contacts dry. After 30 minutes flush with warm water water. Sometimes this works, sometimes the valve needs replaced. In my own personal opinion, if you're going to go the route of removing the valve, you might be better off to replace it to save yourself from having to repeat these steps twice.

the highest water fill cycle for your waher is the clean cycle.it will fill up with 2x the normal amount of water in this cycle than any other.look for a cut or wrinkle in your door boot(grey rubber outer ring that seals between door and boot)if you find one,only fix would be to replace door boot.also clean inner door glass that comes in contact with door boot ring,any hard water build up or sediment(dog,cat or human hair)will break the seal and allow it to leak.good luck
If the leak started occurring after the bellow was replaced, and it's on the left hand side of the door, I suspect the bellow is not seated around the fill tube all the way. I have experienced this problem before. Check the fill tube where it comes in by the door. The rubber should be seated back far enough to allow the tube to fill into the tub without obstruction. It could be that the fill tube is forcing water BEHIND the bellow and leaking into the washer and on to the floor. To answer your question, "YES", replacing the bellow could have caused your leak.
Swede, you need to replace the water inlet valve. Part number 8181694. This is an easy fix. Just remove the 3 screws that are in back holding the top on. Slide the top back and you will see the valve. Couple of screws and a clamp and it will come right off. Catriver..post back.
