Your pump should be just fine once the water starts flowing again. You may have run it too long without enough water to cool the seal.
If it is leaking water between the Jacuzzi Pump housing and the motor then you will need a new pump seal. Those are common pool parts.

What does it mean if the psi drops 5 to 10 psi on the pool filter

Restriction before pump impeller or clogged impeller. Check:
Dirty skimmer basket, not enough water in pool, stuck weir gate in up position, plugged pipe coming into pump, if in ground pool, then yes,the pipe underground. It is not a restriction after the pump like dirty filter. If it was, pressure will rise!

How do i prime this swimming pool pump?

The normal procedure would be to unscrew the top of the inlet basket and fill that with water until it flow out down the inlet pipe, then replace the top cover. Make sure the skimmer box basket is clean, the pool water level is high, or put a fast running hose in the skimmer box to make sure the primed pump does not have to pull the water up from too low at the inlet.

If it will not pull the pool water in when started, then -
- there is a leak or blockage somewhere on the inlet side
- the pump impeller is damaged
- the filter is clogged too much and causing back pressure
- the pump power and pipe sizing are mismatched

Pool cleaner starts and then stops working

Check for water flow / water flow restrictions / and water flow blockages.

Many things create water flow reductions: Dirty filters, plugged impellers, packed with debris baskets - both skimmers and at pump, closed to partially closed valves, air suction leaks: worn shaft seal, worn orings at pump lid or pump volute body, low water level, stuck skimmer weir blade/gate in the up position & skimmer empties and air is sucked into the system which may cause the pump to lose prime. This a problem that goes un-noticed and is hard to detect even by some service technicians!

I have a 1hp sta-rite above ground pool pump. The pump model number is MPRA6E-147L The pump is about 4 years old, and during our summers it runs about 12 hours a day (May through September) and during...

It sounds like there was a lack of water to the reservoir, which is, I assume the inlet reservoir with the basket strainer in it.
1. Is your water level in the pool high enough to keep the reservoir full?
2. There is an o-ring or gasket on the reservoir cover, is it there and lubricated so there is no air leakage?
3. Put a garden hose into the open reservoir to see if the pump moves this water out.
Do all of this with the filter set to just go back to the pool so you can see the results.
Try this and comment back.
Good Luck,

Low water pressure coming out after pump is on

Check skimmers, pump strainer basket and filter pressure. If filter pressure builds. time to backwash the filter. Also, the impellar on the pump might have debris in it...

Water fills the pump basket area and empties once full

This could very well be low water, it should be half way up the tile or the skimmer throught. Also check your skimmer weir door. If it get's stuck in the up position it will do the same thing. To be sure start the pump then watch the water in the skimmer. If it sucks dry then it is one of these things.

I have a Whisperflow pool pump attached to a Polaris Caretaker in-pool cleaning system. When the pump is turned on it pumps a great deal of air through the cleaning system plus the system does not seem to...

there may be some debris at the pump lid oring that is allowing some air to get sucked in. sometimes everything seems to be operating fine until the system gets up to full pressure. perhaps the pump has run dry at some point and the pipe that threads into the front of the whisperflo pump has broken the seal. make sure the pipe is dry and then turn on system. you can use duck tape or squeeze silicon sealer into threaded area this will usually at least allow you to notice that less air is entering the system that way you dont have to cut and replumb parts you don need to. you may want to check any valves that are in the pipes that lead to the front of the pump it is possible that the flap at the skimmer throght where the water comes in at the pool wall tile/water line is sticking up and or is getting stuck which will stop the amount of water needed to enter thru the skimmer basket area once the pump is in full prime this then lets the water drop inside skimmer basket area and air gets sucked into the pump then the process repeats over and over until the flapper is freed or removed

My Kreepy Krauly is working at half speed, any ideas? I've checked the tubing, no visible leaks, flapper works. Seems to pull air into the filter even after tubing is full of water. Both baskets clean.

Are you using a skimmer plate with the regulator valve or is connected direct to wall? Do you have a valve near pump that allows you to select skimmer or main drain or other input port? If so, select only skimmer. What is the pressure on your filter? Filter may need to be backwashed.

My pump is running however it's pressure is less than 10 psi and the heater on the pool will not run.

With the Jacuzzi Magnum pool pumps, low pressure is going to likely be cause by one of the issues below. Try these troubleshooting tips.

1.Pump not primed

2.Leakage of air into suction system

3.Impeller clogged

4.Valve in suction or discharge line partly closed or suction or discharge line partly plugged or too small. 5.Plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint strainer.

6.Dirty filter.
