Rotate the Live View switch to the LV position. Focus by pressing the shutter release button halfway. Start recording by pressing the movie-record button. Stop recording by pressing the movie-record button again.

Full details are in the "Recording and Viewing Movies" section of the manual (page 107 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

You don't understand my issues. I don't like this company that is 100% green. I need a manual!

Steve, since this is the first mention you've made of a Nikon D5100 manual, you're right, I didn't understand that you wanted one. You may order a printed copy fromhttp://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Product...

When i make a video there is always an interference noise over the video even when the room is silent and stuff, any way of getting rid of this noise from my camera ?

It's tough to give a detailed answer without knowing the make and model of your camera, but I can give you one big hint.
Turn off the sound on your camera. Use it for what it's good for---recording images. Record the soundtrack using something designed specifically to record sound, then combine the two in the editing stage.

My vx2100 plays back every time I record something. I don't know why but it's super annoying. I figured the search buttons on top are loose or broken but I don't know. Is there any way I could...

The VX2100 is quite a complicated camera and can be easily damaged during disassembly. I don't know of any setting that would cause this to happen but you can try resetting the camera functions pressing the rest button to see if this goes away. Otherwise the camera should be repaired by a qualified technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Have no sound after recording something why?

Your only fix is to buy another camera.

The FE210 is a very low cost basic video stills camera. Although it has the ability to record video when needed it does not record audio as it lacks the hardware to do so (click here to see the Olympus model specifications which clearly show no sound recording facility listed under Movie Recording System). On your camera it's really only a free taster of video simply because the camera shares hardware with other models in the range which record both video and audio. Keeping it basic on the FE-210 keeps the price down as many users don't want to record video and so don't want to pay for unnecessary features.

I hope that my speedy answer has saved you further frustration and reassured you that you are doing nothing wrong with your camera. Please take a moment to rate my answer.

My Canon PowerShot SD300 was recording sound perfectly a few days ago. Now whenever I record a video and play it back there is no sound except for static. I have resetted the settings to factory defaults...

When you play the video back and get no sound are you doing this on your camera or on the computer? I have the same camera, and noticed that when I playback something I've recorded I don't have sound either, mind you I don't have static either. But once I've uploaded the video onto my pc the sound is there.

My sony cybershot camera works beautifully. The pictures are great, as are the videos. When I record a video on the camera, the audio and video are fine. However, when I upload them to the computer, there...

I don't know how long you had this problem nor when it started.
I don't know that it is a poblem, and I don't know if it can be fixed.
Too many variables: the camera, the USB plugs, the USB cable, the software, the possible interference, and so on.

Have you tried to upload the pictures and videos using a card reader?

Can't get rid off L2 message on the recorder.

If I'm understanding this as what I think it is - that's not an error message at all! It's the input your recorder is currently set on (I'm talking about the "L2" shown in the right side of the LED display when the unit is powered on, where the channel number would usually be.) In order to change that, you have to open the bottom flap on the front of the machine (or slide open the remote bottom for the record controls to be exposed,) and press the "Input Select" button twice until it cycles through L3 and ends on whatever channel you last left it on - I think it defaults to 100 if the power has been interrupted. When you press this button after that, it would cycle through "L1", "L2", "L3", and the channel input (or coaxial cable input, to be exact), as expected. I know of no other "L2" message you might be speaking of. If I'm incorrect on this, I apologize. But I hope I'm not and that this simple issue is all that is causing you a headache! Good luck! And by the way, "L1,2, & 3" are the RCA/S-Video inputs on the back (L1 and L3) and on the front (L2) of your machine for various things you might plug in (video cameras, etc.) Note: For L1 and L3 ONLY, you have to go into setup to select whether you will be using the RCA yellow or S-Video jack on the back of the machine for the video of that particular input (with no bearing on the RCA audio jacks for that particular input - they're always used...) - the front L2 input evidently selects on its own between S-Video and the RCA yellow plug, based on which plug has something plugged in. I haven't tested to see which it will select if they are both occupied with a plug on L2. I don't mean to treat you like an idiot -- please don't take it that way - but I don't know how much you know about electronics, and IF I'm right about this whole thing, then I'm sort of assuming you aren't too familiar with them. In either case, please know that I mean well, and any information that you already know, just overlook. Thanks, and again, good luck!

Blue lines in play mode

This is not a problem with the tape but the camera. The only way to fix it seems to be to find an empty spot on the tape or a spot you don’t care if you record over. Then record for a second then go to video mode and you can play the tape without the blue lines. Or buy something else to play the tapes which should be fine either way. Darn camera !
