Has new pump and board.maytag repair man say want till it won't work.
it has just started this shaking bad just before it spins. and stops.then you have to start it up again.
Re: maytag mah4000aww trys to spin shakes and stops
There are off balance switchs on the tub that will turn it off But if the pump sump is full it will pump slow and throw it off balance so check to see how well and fast it is pumping the water out

Boom shake is most likely just air in the system. Run it and use the boom till it stops shaking. This happens sometimes after a service on the hydraulics and filter change. As for it not starting after a bit, check that the cold start sensor is working properly. If it will start with a small spurt of ether, then it's not getting the fuel to start up. The cold start system will care for that, and the temperature sensor must work to do so.
It could be the motor control board not telling the motor to switch to its highest speed, but it could also be control board not telling the motor control board to activate, but it could also be in the timing circuit. What other indications are you getting? Take a look at the wiring diagrams for this machine on the referenced site.
If you think that there is no shake or play in the bearings a good wash with kerosene or diesel will take away all the dirt that causes the noise. The use light grease/heavy oil (90) to fill into the bearings.
Tip: repeat the washing with the diesel, use a good small brush and hold a tray under to pour the diesel and collect on to the tray till the noise subsides.
However if the bearings are still noisy then I think you need not replace the drum .
If Helpful credit me for the tip.
its probably because of the way the clothes are in it. you have to make sure the clothes arent leaning to one side and that they are evenly set up. otherwise when it goes into the spin cycle itll lean and hit the side of the washers inside and make it shake and do what you said it was doing.
It is the drain pump and motor assembly that does not remove the water from the tub. Althought it spins, water is not sucked out of the tub. Try replacing the drain pump and motor assembly. Part no. 22003059.
My machine (Maytag MAH4000aww) failed to drain because of a bobby-pin that was lodged in the drain pump impeller. Because of the added weight of the wet clothes, and the undrained water; the machine would not spin. The Wax motor worked as the door did lock properly, but the machine would "ramp up" trying to spin, but would stop the process when it sensed that the load was grossly unbalanced. Check the drain pump to see that it is not clogged or that the impeller is not impeded by a foreign object before spending money on imbalance switches! I will now cancel the service man, who surely would have charged me for a new pump, plus the cost of the visit, and now I can stop swearing! My wife is glad she married me!!!!

I replaced the motor and circuit board but that did not fix it. I changed the out of balance switch and the shock absorbers or snubbers. I think the ultamate fix was the snubbers. it has worked great since. They wear out like your car shock absorbers allowing the drum to shake too much triggering the out of balance switch to stop and restart the spin.
